RC failure, lol
Yesterday, the feeling was just right, and I knew I was going to have a LD. And I should have. I had a dream that a bunch of people were driving and walking down a freeway. I saw anti-gravity craft coming to stationary positions above us. I said to someone near me that those were the same craft that I had seen in a dream. Then to myself I said that either it was precognitive or this was a dream. I said that my surroundings were just too realistic, but I did a RC anyway, the finger through the hand trick. It did not go through, so I happily determined that my surroundings were real and went on watching the craft and wondering if they were ours or aliens. Sad. It would have made another fun Lucid.

I've done something like this before. My school had captured Osama bin Laden and he was riding in the back of the school bus. After he was taken inside one of the buildings I thought that the whole thing was a little strange, so I said, "What does two plus two equal? Six, of course?" AND I WENT ON, DISAPPOINTED THAT I WASN'T DREAMING.
XD
Since then I've learned to stay away from math as a reality check haha

If an RC works in dream the same way it works IWL, then switch to a different RC. I've had to do this a couple times in my lucid dreaming career. Also, switching to a new RC makes you pay more attention to your intent to determine whether you're dreaming, since that RC isn't a habit and you have to think about it more.

There's a fine balance between using an RC enough to remember to do it in a dream, and doing it by habit.
I guess you could use several in rotation?

Thanks for the responses. I'll probably add the breathing through pinched nose to the finger through the hand. See if that increases predictability of an appropriate response.
