I haven't found my dream guide yet :l
Me too.... :( I haven't found one yet but really want to
It's my main goal at the moment. I have two month holidays coming up so that should be adequate time to focus on finding them :) .
I don't think one needs to have a dream guide to be guided by the dream. I have had random DC's helping me beforee as well as the dream itself. The awareness behind the dream.
Yeah I know people prefer, but I just wanted to mention because some people have the notion that it's ONLY possible with dream guides.
Some examples I've had was when I tried to fly and couldn't so then a DC across the street who was sitting outside a cafe went and shouted for me "Super Powers" and voila! I could suddenly fly.
I once tried switching on the light via the switches which weren't working or weren't being consistent when a DC got angry and just shouted "will someone turn these goddamn lights on" and then instantly the lights came on.
There was a time when I was being persecuted by some DC whom I knew the moment they got to me that I would wake up. So I asked out loud for a way out and nothing happened. Just as these DC were close to reachinf me a passage on the wall suddenly opens and I am able to get away and go into a new dream scene without waking up.
I've had a random DC show me how to transform into a wolf and they did so telling me what I ahould do and actually doing it themselves. Then some more DC's came around and did it too to show me.
There's probably more stuff. I would like to have a dream guide (why not), just never had one.
Yeah that'a what I meant. Some people may be new to lucid dreaming and may have heard about dream guides and such and so built up a schema around it.
I want one because I like the idea of having a specific character specifically for being a dream guide. Even just a dream best friend would be cool. I guess i just want a friendly DC who I can trust to turn up when I need them. But it would be cool if they were experienced enough to help me, too. :P
Interested in this concept and topic. Though i haven't seen my DG just yet..
Oh. I see. Hm. The thing is though when i came here i didn't really know what a dream guide was even though I've been lucid dreaming for a long time. I just knew I had persistent characters that helped at times. But I always knew that other dream characters could help. For new lucid dreamers I don't think that they think that others can't help now that i think about it. Because just like in non lucids there are characters that act differently. But I can see how people can get caught up in it and feel like they need one even though they don't. I guess its just preference and depends on the person. Like littlepookyo4's reason which is kind of similar to mine except you can't depend on them all the time but its still pretty fun to have them around.Quote:

Really? I remember reading your DJ before and i thought you mentioned something about a dream guide. But if you haven't than thats ok. I'm sure you will find one too if you want one or you can try making the dream guide. ^^Quote:

Oh, about that? My summoning of a DG ended up summoning a shadow person instead. Either i failed or my dream collapsed hard including the look of people in it. But despite that, i'm looking forward to meeting him/her again! DGs are really fascinating, like having another person in your dreams to play around with or talk to!
Though i have a slight concern.. Do DGs communicate like real people, or do they say random stuff like normal DCs do? I've been worrying that it would be the latter..
I once had my DG give me a tarot card reading. It was an intense experience :)
I don't really know if I've ever "seen" a guide. My dreams seem to be very, self absorbed(as I am in real life;-)), in the sense that I rarely dream of others... I'm usually experiencing events from my own perspective - or observing myself.
I do remember obtaining LOADS of information, by some floating voice - I felt as though I was rocketed out of my dream with this little snip-it of info fresh in my mind "This is a sub-transient universe" <- I assumed that was in connection to dreams themselves, although it's kind of an oxymoron... I was very annoyed I couldn't remember what else was said!
Regardless, I am very new to this forum but would speculate that the voice I heard would be some form of a guide? I would be highly interested in figuring out more about the subject....
I'd have to check my dream journal for old entries. I've run into some interesting DCs and had short conversations. Forget exactly what was said, but there was at least a handful of DCs who had very guru-esque things to say about dreaming and life :) not sure if this qualifies as guidance but it was certainly noteworthy at the time. Each instance involved a conversation and most of the times I was the one consciously initiating it while lucid. One instance that stands out is that I was in a dream scene with started with this guru DC in front of me and I just started talking to them.
I found my DG when I was young. The original dream involved being in some sort of video game involving a mummy. It was me and two other girls. When I became lucid, I called for my dream guide and she appeared. It was cool because she was one of the girls. She taught me how to fly and then I tried to make out with her (my 12 year old mind didn't expect less) and she didn't like that. So, she disappeared and I haven't seen her since. Sometimes, I heard her voice talking to me in LDs, but I can never see where she's at. I tried to look for her, but I kind of lost focus over the past few years of LDing. But, I'm going to resume my search for her as soon as I start having more lucids.
Does anyone else have multiple dream guides? I definitely have at least three:
A blind girl with short gray hair has helped me become lucid a few times, and helped maintain my lucidity which is something that is hard to keep up with sometimes.
Another one is a tall, young mage who has taught me multiple dream control techniques and was present during my first WILD. He was pretty helpful during that dream, which is something normal DC's seem to be lacking at.
The last one is a girl about my age with dark red hair, who has been present in several dreams so far but has acted more as a passive observer than a direct guide.
Whats cool about having multiple dream guides is that each one specializes in something dream related, and I really want to try getting them to all meet up at one point.
I was with her on roof trying to mimic her jumping high onto the next level of buildings effortlessly and I was having trouble. She kept dropping hints that I was dreaming but I wasn't getting it... finally I understood her and she was like "well duhhhhh". It was a little like Morpheus and Neo atop the skyscraper.
That was an amazing experience that happened months ago and hasn't happened since. I hope it does again. Sometimes DC's just have to spell it out for you even though so many unrealistic things are happening lol.
My dream guide is very useful to answer some questions, he is very cooperative (and sometimes he even takes initiatives) because it is his role. His answers are always very coherent/consistent and sometimes relevant.
But one time he helped me for something not really important, but he completely broke the vicious spiral I was getting in :
On a French forum about lucid dreams, we have a game : members can challenge others with a precise objective they have to suceed in a lucid dream.
Mine was to kiss a toad and see what happens. It seemed not so difficult, but every time I tried to reveal the toad, (by calling him or scour/searching in a pond, or in the mud, or even in the sewers!!) he never showed up... By failing and failing again, I was a bit discouraged and of course this state of mind wasn't helping at all.
The lack of confidence made me expect to fail again, and the next failure made me less confident, and so on.
Then I had an idea, a completely different strategy : I didn't call or searched the little amphibian, but my dream guide (that I already met several times to ask him questions).
I was in my garden, and he arrived by passing over the wall that surrounds this place.
I asked him to tell me where I can find a toad, and he answered me by opening the pocket of his jacket (some kind of "fishing jacket", khaki, with a lot of pockets..).
And he put out his closed hand, which I opened : there was a very very very very very very tiny toad in it, with a light color (almost white). Then I kissed it and it shrinked until it disappeared.
I realised my guide wasn't only a DC to answer questions with relevance, but also a real ally I can lean on for all kind of stuff in LD's (improtant stuff or not).
