Twice now!
Hi everybody, this is my first contribution to this forum.
I finally do this because I had 2 LDs in the last weeks (after i found this site, 3 months ago). This was, as i suspect you know very well, astonishingly exciting. So exciting in fact that it almost woke me up.
My problem is that I noticed two irritating details:
- I didn't seem to have much control over them
The first one, i tried to fly but i only managed to jump (on a beam, like in gymnastics) about 2 meters high
The second one, i succeded in jumping an encouraging 20 meters high but i couldn't touch down properly and fell.
- In my LDs, the scenery was all lame and sober, nothing fancy like a good old moutainy decor or anything. Everything was focused on my ability to "act", even though poorly.
I must admit i don't practice much, they both happened during a very bad-sleep night, so i wonder if i actually am having LDs more often than i think (but i can't remember them).
I would be greatly interested in your insight about that.
Thanks my friends.
Paulo.

Welcome to Dream Views! 8)
First off, don't get too distraught about not having control over your lucids. Control is secondary to simply acknowledging that you are dreaming. You might want to make yourself comfortable in the lucid state before you start worrying too much about control. But remember, control is not crucial at all. Many lucid dreams probably go through their experiences without changing a think, simply letting their consciousness analyze what is going on.
Second it is possible that many of us have more lucid dreams than we remember. But I'm not sure if this is true or not. In my experience, being lucid is like remembering something that happened about a week ago. The details are a little hazy, but it is definitely easier for me to remember my lucids than my nons, or at least it feels that way. Maybe it is different for everyone.
Anyway...welcome! Enjoy your stay, and don't hesitate to use the search, start a journal, and ask questions.

Yeah, your lucid dreams will vary on how much lucidity and "control" over your world that you actually exhibit. Usually, if I try too hard to make something happen, its like I "over-focus" and I end up waking up. The best way for me to keep the dream going is to go along with the "flow" of that dream, some may be short and exciting, others may be long and more philosophical - wherever you find yourself, just relax and experiment and try not to get too anxious during the dream. Another great thing to commit to memory is to spin if you find the dream fading.

Thank you, I'll try that.
I think i'm going to go the academic way for a while, keeping a dreambook and all.
The reason I focused on control so badly is that the lucidity came that way ... hard to explain ... Once, I realized i was dreaming because - oh this must sound stupid  - i actually had control over my body (that is my dream body but i didn't know). The orders from my brain to my body were actually carried out, and it made sort of a match between my will and my action (i was walking).
I don't know why but this acted like a RC and I knew I was dreaming. There's something there, I know it ... :)
