      First Lucid Dream!

I finally had my first lucid dream last night after 3 days of practicing ! It went by really fast though.
So, I was basically with my homeroom class on a train station, then a school bus came. We all went on it and everyone else besides me had their winter coats on. We went on the bus, then a couple minutes later, we were on top of snowy mountain, but I wasn't exactly sure what mountain it was. There were cardboard walls about as tall as me in random spots everywhere, and one of them had a paper with grades on it. We hadn't taken any recent tests so I didn't know what they were for. I started to walk to it and everyone else was trying to see it too, so I couldn't get to the paper. Then, because I was only wearing a sweater but I wasn't cold, I realized I need my winter jacket! So, I walked a couple steps and I looked down and saw I had my winter jacket on! Then I realized I was dreaming!! I jumped up in the air, trying to fly, but it didn't work at first so instead I told my friend, "I'm dreaming!" She said, "Yeah, I know." Then I woke up. (I copied from my dream journal). Anyone have any similar experiences?

Hello. I'm glad you had your first lucid dream, they can be fun. I'm not much of a lucid dreamer myself (I describe myself more as a dream explorer), but funny thing was that a day or two after I registered here, I had a lucid dream without trying to induce it at all. I'm taking several psychiatric drugs, and they all affect my sleep (that's what they are for, in fact, because I've suffered of insomnia all my life), making it harder to remember dreams, making dreams less vivid, and therefore lucid dreaming harder to attain, but I digress. I still have very vivid dreams often, which I would almost classify as lucid, were it not for the fact that I don't know that I am inside a dream. halfway through my sleep a few days ago I realised I was dreaming and became lucid when a person asked me what I had done yesterday: I tried to remember what I had done the day before and all I could picture was going to bed, and instead of waking up I kept dreaming. I had to put a lot of effort to remember anything I had done recently that was not going to sleep, and in the end I could, but I don't remember much after that.

So, to answer your question: yes, I've had similar things. I really should make a thread to explain and update my dream explorations, instead of trying to half-assedly explain them in every reply...

I had my first lucid this morning too. It was also pretty short, but it's progress, so I was pretty happy! Mine took about a month and a half to get though...

Nice. Good job on having the first dream. Don't get discouraged if you feel like progress is slow. After all, some people here have taken literal years to achieve mastery. I hope you have more lucid or vivid dreams, and that they are nice dreams.
