First vivid fully lucid LD after 13 years !! Thanks to FILD

have been trying LD on and off for 13 years :boggle: mostly off. I would have a flurry of interest and try 10 different techniques in the span of a few days then give up.

Tried EVERYTHING. WILD, MILD, VILD. Hypnosis. Bought a REM Dreamer for $200. The closest I ever got was one or two blurry LD lasting a few seconds

Last night I decided enough was enough and I was going to commit to this. I read a very helpful post on Reddit that said to stop trying so many techniques and dedicate 5-6 days a week to ONE technique (link here: https://www.reddit.com/r/LucidDreami..._days_or_less/) . The technique I decided is WBTB + FILD. I woke up after a few hours of sleep and either I was really awake or it was a FA. Can't really remember. Did FILD and felt/heard an "ejection" noise like a torpedo out of a submarine. I saw my self laying on the bed and then I "spun" to the left and had a first person LD which lasted 2-3 minutes. I was so happy during this and just wanted to run outside in the sun and celebrate. I remember savoring just how vivid everything was.

I feel confident its only going to get better from here. I downloaded the Lucidity app and am going to diligently log my dreams and do WBTB as many nights as I can.

EDIT: I also have had a huge fear of SP. My advice to people on this forum who are reading posts is to stop reading about Lucid dreaming. It sounds counter intuitive but many of the posts online are made up of how people had orgies with celebrities or only focus on exagerrated SP stories. If I could go back in time I would just pick the technique that made the most sense to me (WBTB + FILD makes the most sense to me) and stuck with it with a dream journal. Instead I would get discouraged by reading fake or hyped up stories of people succeeding from strange techniques and I would try so many and never get in the groove.

Have you ever tried LD supplements? Galantamine, choline, theanine, etc.

Good idea to focus on one technique. Except, you might consider combining it with LD supplements from time to time. They can increase your odds of getting lucid, increase the duration of your LDs, stabilize your LDs, make them more vivid, etc.

Could you give some specifics of what FILD is and how you do it?

Nice! By "first person LD" do you mean you weren't just a passive observer of the dream?

Good advice to avoid all the hype! What is it about the WBTB + FILD method that makes the most sense to you?

I have tried choline galantamine theanine b vitamins nicotine gum everything. I've been reading these forums for years and always looking for a surefire way in the lucid aids section. It's like bodybuilding everyone wants the quick fix but now I realize putting in the hard work of RC and journaling will pay off more than reading endlessly and ordering herbs. I think that one thread about taking galantamine and chewing nicotine gum makes sense and it helped my dream recall but now that I have a fully vivid LD without any of those I want to focus on Lding naturally.

By first person I mean it was an OBE type experience but then I was having a dream as myself

Wbtb makes sense because the early stages of sleep are NREM and most of the dreams I remember are in the morning. Fild makes sense because when I wake up after 4-5 hours I'm pretty sleepy and just roll over and go to sleep while remembering to do fild. Don't overthink it just twitch the muscle in each finger every other second or so. I am not interested in WILD at this moment because I think the conscious awareness prolongs the entry into an LD. For FILD your mind can turn off besides the fingers and you fall aslee faster

Sounds easy! Probably takes practice, though.

So FILD tends to make you have DILDs, not WILDs?

Tried twitching each of my fingers sequentially as I fell asleep last night at WBTB. Didn't do anything, but I might have done it wrong. Or I need to do it a lot more to get used to it. Guess I should read that Reddit link you posted.

I've tried so many times and never had any luck with it. Every time I have gone lucid I have always done so with a RC in my dream, for me holding my nose and trying to breathe is the best although I've also gone lucid because I realized my hands were "not solid".
