      First Post, First Lucid

I've done it! I read these forums a few weeks ago reading through your lucid dreams and they sound fantastic.

I am going to tell you about my first (but not quite the first as I had the other one when I was a baby) lucid dream.

After I'd read this forum I got really excited about trying a lucid dream but when it come to the time I bottled it because I was scared of what might happen and ended up staying conscious while I was asleep NOT dreaming - scary thing it's very horrible.

This morning though I decided or I was more told that I would have a lucid dream by my mind. This is the dream nothing great but lucid all the same.

I was in normal stage of sub-conscious dreaming when I dreamt I was going down a motorway and I just knew we were going to crash and we did at 80mph but I wasnt lucid yet but I was slowly going up to lucidity it wasn't a sudden thing. When I realised that in the car crash I was actually dreaming and I didn't get hurt by the crash I thought "Im just dreaming" but I wasn't fully aware. Next thing I knew I woke up in bed well I thought I woke up and walked around my room - I actually thought I was awake but this was so real. I then looked at my hands they had a piece of cotton on them which told me I was dreaming - that was my first reality check but it wasn't convincing because I could have had cotton on my hand in real life. The next reality check was that I looked at my clock and it read 10:11 and looked away and looked back and it read 11:10 so I was pretty sure I was dreaming but sometimes I still wasn't fully aware even if the dream seemed real. Then I started moving things using psychokinesis and it was quite hard. I got excited and lost lucidity for a second but regained it when I was walking down the stairs. I went to show my family and they started laughing because I couldn't do it and so I went back up feeling dejected. After that I tried to morph myself to a tropical Island but it didn't work and I couldn't understand why. I was then told that I had been dreaming for 4 minutes by someone on which I decided to click my fingers and say 'awake' and I was awake.

I didn't recieve the rush of euphoria that most people get when they realise theyre lucid dreaming but I got the euphoria when I woke up after a few reality checks and defined I was awake and I felt happy - I do now. I only awoke 40 minutes ago.

I kept my feet firmly on the ground but I will hope to fly in my next lucid dream. The dream was actually low level/medium level but I want a high level or WILD!

I have had some dreams like this...they are strange though, because right before I crash, everything slows down into like 5 minutes.

Whoa!! Car crashes are one of my dreamsigns! Usually running of of a cliff, ro hitting something and being launched way up into the air.

      Welcome on board!

Congrats! Now that you've done it once, it'll be easier and easier, especially if you cultivate it by thinking about it during the day, etc.

You might also try setting your alarm for 2 or 3 in the morning, then reading a book or magazine for a half hour or so, and then going back to sleep. When I was in my teens and first getting a grasp on lucid dreaming, this worked VERY weel for me.

Have fun with your new skill!

I will try that. Do you think the genre of the book could decide what kind of lucid you might start with. For example a Stephen King book would send me into a nightmare?

Well, yes.....but the beauty of lucid dreaming is that it doesn't matter! Being lucid, you KNOW that no harm can come to you and are able to determine (to some extent) what goes on in the dream. Just last week, I woke up at 3 and read an article in Discover magazine on old rusted-out ships, and that's where my WILD took me when I fell asleep. If you don't like where you are, just fly, swim, teleport, or rollerblade the heck outta there!

An escape from the real world sounds good for a few dream hours. Ill go flying and diving under tropical coral reefs next time.

The first time you become lucid is great; it's impossible to explain how awesome the feeling is when you wake up and think, "Whoa.. I did it!"

Tjhands is right, only 3 weeks ago I thought it was impossible for me to be in a virtual world made by my mind. Now I am starting to routinely do it and it only gets stronger exponentially as long as you focus, lucid dreaming rocks!

I am impressed because usually when one gets excited, especially the first time, you typically loose lucidity but you didn't loose it!

I say that's amazing in itself. Your experiences are just beginning!!

      Blissful

      congrats

Wow, I gotta give you props

It's very common for newcomers to get so excited that they attain lucidity so quickly! Unfortunately, for me, my excitement for lucid dreaming was not a quick rush, but rather a gradual and passive introducion...

Its pretty cool that your first lucid dreaming was also a false awakening...

Congratulations, and keep up the good work Ste!

Thanks everyone I havent been on much due to college work but I havent really had any lucids to note of since that apart from that I know what my dream sign is now - and its looking at a clock - my reality check has now become a dream sign weird! I nearly went lucid and drifted out to early theres always tomorrow morning! Need a Saturday morning in all honesty ---> more time.
