      Inducing Lucid with Television

This morning I though I'd try something new, using the WBTB method. I was awake for about 30-40 minutes, I turned the TV on and went back to sleep; leaving it on. This, I surprisingly found, made it easy to know the exact moment you enter a dream because, when you start to feel that "head rush / dizzy " and you start to feel that you are falling asleep, the sounds of the TV change slightly and then change entirely as soon as you enter the dream. That instantly alerted me of entering a dream and made me attain instant lucidity.

I found that a really great way of doing it It may be good for people who are struggling

I have recently discovered this method too, how freaky.

It happened to me whilst I was watching the Simpsons.

The thread is in the Newbie section under "induce a dream using the simpson".

you should have a read of it!

I think I have posted in your thread, I just thought I'd post my version here because it is different, for one thing mine was actually accidental lol, because i end up doing the WBTB often...but not on purpose

I have still not tried to attempt a WILD

Isn't that feeling where the sounds of the TV change really strange, TBH it scared me at first, it changed in to some sort of chanting

maybe one night when i dont need to be well-rested the next day ill try this, it sounds like a mix of WBTB and aural focusing technique.
Do you experience any HI or feel the sleep paralysis setting in?

Well, it's kinda hard to explain. At one point I was trying to move but found it impossible, I think the reason for this, though, is because i was in between the transition from waking to dreaming, like I was in a dream but I was still restricted by my own earthly body.

There was no HI or anything involved, just the sounds changing alerting you of the transition. It feels kinda strange. It's similar to the HILD technique ( Hilgard (sp) Induced Lucid Dream)

I usually sleep with either a tv, music, or a fan on. When I sleep in silence my dreams are usually more lucid. They all give me different dreams. I've had dreams where I went lucid and my dream was just odd and made me think why I was dreaming it at all. Usually when I wake up it was the outside noise working its way into my dreams. The place where I sleep alters my dreams as well. If I sleep in my bed I tend to have dreams close to my home and things seem familiar. However, when I sleep on my couch, in my chair, or in an unfamiliar place I have more dreams about places I don't recognize and mostly people I've never met before.

I do like having the tv on a sleep timer so that it shuts off shortly after I fall asleep.

hmm, that's strange, area doesn't affect my dreams at all. I think that the weird dreams with the TV on are usually just your imagination listening to the TV and interpreting it in a strange way lol, usually similar to what is exactly on TV, but with a weird twist lol

It's annoying when you are so deep in a dream that the alarm clock noise doesn't wake you up, instead...you hear it in your dream lol

I guess it would work in ways, but if you think about it, there is no real "theme", it would work the same way as music maybe...hmmmm...worth a try

I love BR, I own both BR I and BR II on DVD, I prefer the original though I think the Japanese make THE best movies lol

I remember I was on my couch watching t.v trying not to fall asleep, because I was waiting for someone to stop by then I decided to get up, but I couldn't...I could see and hear the t.v, but I was paralyzed. Many times there's someone/thing out of my view and that freaks me out.

I also sleep with a fan on. I think the white noise helps, in some way or another. No matter what season, the fan is always on in my room when I settle in!

Have any of you tried falling asleep with the radio on an AM talk show? There's no added lighting to distract, and the droning of AM radio seems to help as well. I've been a big Coast to Coast AM fan for quite some time, and I don't mean to sound like George Noory is boring (far from it!), but just the AM radio sound helps me sleep too. I keep it just loud enough to barely hear, behind the background sound of the fan. Sometimes, it has even influenced my LD's...hearing the radio personality in my head whilst things take place in my dream!

      Happy LD's to all!!!
