I'll give you an example of a scary dream I had in which I became Lucid:
In the dream I was convinced I was sleep walking, nothing looked real and I had no control over my body. I managed to drag myself down the stairs of my house. everything was dark and I could hear myself trying to yell out. I got downstairs and could see a dark figure out of the corner of my eyes, I was terrified. The figure walked up to me and began screaming in my ear, I was paralysed with fear. I then realised that the reson these events were occuring was because I was in fact dreaming. I immediately turned the events around, I was still a little scared but I forced myself to start laughing, before long I was laughing for real, and I turned to the figure, which then took the form of my house mate, I laughed and told "you can't scare me now because I know it's a dream... you nearly had me though" I stood up, now with full control of my body and continued with an amazing LD.
P.S. An LD will only turn into a nightmare if you expect it to.
