A 'lil account of a recent adventure I experienced, mainly because I was writing a similar scene in a book, and I was itching to try it out in "real life".
... I was talking to a person in a dream, and performing a rudimentary check (Who is this? Why am I talking to him? Where is he? Where am I? Who am I?), which often springs into my mind when I'm talking to people in my dream (Following mind-numblingly boring 4-hour daily exercises for several weeks, but it was worth it), and realised that I was in a dream.
Quickly concentrated on my hands, checking out every little detail, every little scratch, to prevent myself from waking up. Then I jumped through the floor, and ended up falling in total darkness, head down. I accelerated the fall a little, and did that for a while, feeling as though I was going deep underwater. I did that until I couldn't go any deeper.
Then recalled my goal (which was to act out the battle between a force defending a fortress high in the mountains, and a force assaulting it, with air support for the polar bear rider defenders. (fantasy genre).
For a while, nothing happened, and I was starting to worry I was going to wake up when I was pulled very harshly to the left.
First, there was some hazy environment, I couldn't really grasp, and I felt like I was flying around in circles. Then I increased my concentration even more, thinking about armies and a huge number of people.
Next I know, I'm in a small, dark room, totally alone, with audio tapes lying around and a TV somewhere (I could hear it, couldn't see it). Fuming at my subconsciousness for playing tricks on me I opened the door, only to be hit in the face with an icy blast of wind and the roar of thousands of bears. 8)
It was freezing, but I didn't want to make myself warm, because I was determined to live through what I put my characters through. I ran to the nearest bear (Which had horns and a long tail, but I ignored that, and I think the horns soon disappeared), got on it, and grabbed a sword from a guy standing next to the bear.
The rest was a kind of chaos. Everybody charged, and I ended up in the middle of the snow field with bears and some other animals I don't remember around me, and I was hacking with my long, glittering sword at a guy in black fur who had a long spear which was full of blood.
Above me, several red wooden aircrafts swooshed by, dropping greek fire on the black shapes, and exploding as a volley of fire arrows rained on them from somewhere in the enermy ranks. There was a shitload of noise, and the stench was pretty damn bad, too.
I think there was some artillery from the fortress itself, because there were huge bangs left and right with volleys of orange flames going up, and the heat was intense.
I hit the guy in front of me in the shoulder, and he fell into the snow, where my mountain of a bear crushed him with his huge front legs.
Unfortunately, after a few moments, I felt some kind of force dragging me back. I tried to concentrate on my sword and hands, but couldn't, and woke up. Couldn't go back to sleep that night.
Personally, I think this was one of the most realistic LD I've ever had. 8)
