First Time Lucid Dreamer- Didn't mean too!!

Hey guys, had a dream last night which inspired me to find out more about this sort of stuff, and I came across this site.

In the dream I was in this large room made out of mostly wood which had heaps of doors and windows in it. I was in danger I knew that but from some 'nameless danger' common in some dreams (well some of mine anyway). I wasn't excatly frightened but knew I needed to do something fairly quickly. I remember distincly feeling a fairly cool wind and breathing heavily and stamping my feet so that I could concentrate and act.

Then all of a sudden I REALISED I was dreaming. It was a sudden shock but quite clear. I looked around and realised I was in control of what I was doing.

With that I immediately flew up into the air and around for a while until I found one of the doors higher up and took off!! It was fairly awesome.

Now I have never tried to Lucid dream before delibrately. I have quite vivid dreams and remember quite a few (fairly often flying) but never have I realised i was dreaming during the dream and controlled my actions in that way. Its had a fairly profound effect on me.

I didn't TRY to lucid dream last night, but it happend sort of out of the blue. I dont meditate and am not religious at all, so Im not someone that dabbles in the spiritual or soul really at atll. Does it often happen like that or does it usually happen after trying techniques (i noticed there are a couple of things you can try to get dreaming lucidly...)

Sorry if this is just repeating old stuff that u guys have already discussed before, but it was fairly suprising and new for me...

Some people need to work at it others it just happens to.

That door you opened... has alot more meaning than you think.

      like the word fairly?

hmm...first of all, welcome to the board. *pokes n00b*

lucid dreaming...a world in your mind where there are no limits. think Matrix.

it can be as real as waking life, more real sometimes i hear. so working on becoming a master/expert whatever you want to call it is WELL worth it.

if you need more information, there is a thread in "Attaining Lucidity" titled "how to have a lucid dream". I posted a few links to some great websites that will explain everything, along with a link to a book I think every lucid dreamer should have.

so, as I said before welcome to the board, if you have ANY questions or problems feel free to ask, I'll do my best to help.

hAH Thanks! Appreciate your comments... Ive had a fairly interesting day. Everythings felt pretty surreal but positive. Been damn happy and confident etc.

Look forward to the experience again, I'll see how things go... will have a look at the links and get some tips- Must say flying around where you want is something to be repeated!!

BTW i just remembered I had some port last night - dont usually drink it My partner has mentioned to me about 'port dreams'- she reckons that it gives u crazy/ cool dreams. Dunno if it played a part, but hey.

Anyone else heard that about port?
