      WAS THIS LUCIDITY?

hey everybody. i'd like to tell you what i think happened in my dreams last night, can you tell me if i was lucid or not?

i can't remember much of what happened and even if i really had that dream because im terrible at dream recal as i have never practiced it.

anyway, i remember a point in my dreams (it felt like a dream) where i was somewhere in my bedroom and i checked if i was dreaming by covering one eye and seeing if i could see my nose and i couldn't, then i tried to breath through my nose while holding in closed and i could. and so i flew or somthing or sort of knew i was dreaming, but it was very unrealistic and unlike a real reality, i can't even remember if this dream i really had but i feel i got that idea from somwhere?

is this a lucid dream or just a dream about testing myself if i'm dreaming but not really becoming lucid? was i really lucid or not lucid?
My current DREAM is to LUCID DREAM! I'm a beginner...any tips??

Well, techically it was Lucid. But it was a very low energy Lucid Dream.

A really good First Magnitude Lucid Dream should come on a wave of Intense Consciousness Energy. But your Lucid Dream did not.

In a World where people add up their Lucid Dreams for bragging rights, your dream here should probably just count as an 'almost'.

On the other hand, sometimes we have dreams where we do not at any single point assert that "I know I am now dreaming" and yet there is a huge wave of Conscious Clarity and even a level of Spiritual Bliss. Such a dream is so powerful that every detail is etched into Memory for life. And yet, technically, it is not Lucid.

Anyway, one is tempted to boast simply because a dream is technically Lucid. But, yes, one should keep a dream's general quality in perspective. For instance, if we begin to compile meaningful statistics and tabulations, we would have to consider Lucidity as not some Absolute, but grade it along some kind of Intensity Continuum -- where 1 is Twilight in a Dark Alley, and 5 is God on the Beach at High Noon. On such a scale I would rather have a 4 Ordinary Dream then a 2 Lucid Dream.

Well, Leo's making a good point here - it seems that "am I lucid" isn't the important question here.

However, I wouldn't get caught up in tabulating and comparing your "dream energy" using a point system either - seems counterproductive and discouraging when your purpose is to begin having LDs, and makes it seem like there is some sort of objective standard your dreams must obtain or be considered a sub-par.

Perhaps the more important question here is "Am I getting something fulfilling out of my dreams?" And, it seems like at this point, you're probably not. *But* in this dream, you are making some serious progress - you're beginning to incorporate what you learn in your waking life into your dream world! More conscious, vivid lucids are certain to follow.

In short, count it however the hell you want to. They're your dreams, and that's your right. I've started to count my LDs as a way to remind myself of the progress I'm making when I get impatient, and I find it useful. Good luck, and I'd love to hear about your progress!

What he said. I don't think I would count that quite as lucid.
