Your body in waking life can't do this, so we do it in dreams: the sight threshold is passed. Now imagine if you could pass the pain threshold in your dream body. Bodies can only feel a certain amount of pain before you pass out, but in a dream you could continue to increase the feeling, probably forever, and stay aware.
Now, this experience would be absolutely horrible, but I am incredibly curious as to what this feels like. Is anyone else tempted to try this, or has anyone ever felt an impossible amount of dream-pain before?
Well, actually what we have here is an instance of a absolutely horrible imagination.
Now, if we really wanted 'wishes to come true' we could approach pleasure instead of pain.
And as a matter of fact, it has been a very common pursuit in the Spiritual Communtity -- the Quest for Absolute Bliss is almost as common as the pursuit for Liberation and Enlightenment.
And this is where it gets interesting for those Lucid Dreamers who think they can do anything after a Weekend Seminar. Very few people, practicing the most intricate methods of autosuggestion and trance induction are able to get a sustainable or repeatable access to Ecstatic Experience. But there are some. But not as many as we would suppose if it were at all easy.
But maybe you will have more luck with pain.
Oh, try plunging a knife into your knee cap... I can guess that would hurt a lot.

Well put! I think the whole thing may be some sort of self discovery adventure... or it will just hurt like hell. Ever cut your finger off and eaten it? I'm not a doctor, but I think that's probably not a good feeling.
