I have a had a very eventful lucid life in the past 3 days. I had a few lucid dreams in 2004, but nothing as vivid as the past few days. First of all, 3 days ago, I dreamt that I was walking around in just my boxer shorts with my ex, and I was wearing a swimming hat. And it was quite dark. And I looked at my ex and said 'I think I'm dreaming' and really excitedly, he replied 'D'you think?' I think my enthusiasm got mixed with my dream version of him, and I immediately woke up.
The next morning, I tried the technique where you set an alarm early, set it again for 15 minutes later, and do that around 4 times, writing down whatever you can remember from each time you drift off. I had many mini dreams, extremely vivid. The last time, I didn't set the alarm, and let myself sleep. In this last dream, I dreamt that I had woken from a nightmare (I never have nightmares ever). In the supposed nightmare, everyone in the world had died. I woke up and was running around frantically searching for someone to prove I had woken up and it was just a dream. I ran to my house, upstairs and into my parents bedroom. I flung open the curtains and then their covers, and my mum was lying there, perfectly awake. 'Oh, it's only a dream, don't worry' I flung myself onto her (I never do that either). I ran back outside the house, and was running around for some reason, apparently in some kind of celebration that I wasn't dreaming anymore (ironically). I then leapt into my friends garden, over a fence I would not be able to jump in real life. I leapt back over it, and about five seconds later realised that was highly improbable, and I realised I was dreaming. I felt a surge of excitement, but forced myself to calm down, and shocked myself with how much I was able to do this. I did what I had planned to do, and simply observe the dream around me.
Everything was so unbelievably realistic. The sun seemed to shine brighter than it normally does. I was in awe of the world around me. I forgot to look at my hands though. One of the things I want to do most while lucid dreaming is spend time with a teacher at my school woh I have had a huge crush on since he came to the school (yes i'm sad and immature, but if you could see him, you would back me in my thoughts). I considered trying to make him appear somehow, and thought about turning around and then turning back so he would be there, but forced off my thoughts of him. I carried on walking, and saw a group of kids who in real life would probably intimidate me, bu I didn't really feel anythign which was odd. I tried clicking my fingers, but without really thinking of what I wanted to happen. They just walked on by, and suddenly I felt the urge to fly, so I rose into the air and flew the best I've ever flown before. I wasn't going very fast though, and soon was flying backwards, unable to go forwards, as if I was rolling down a hill. So I made myself aim towards a fence and bounced off it and was on my way! Again I wasn't travelling very fast but it still felt pretty cool. I then saw a friend of mine on the ground and got lost in conversation with him, and lost my lucidity.
This morning, I tried exactly the same thing. My dream recall was not so good, but again, I had a lucid dream in the final one where I had not set an alarm. I was watching a football match on tv, looked like it was black and white. The game was interrupeted by a an explosion nearby which meant smoke had covered the pitch. I then noticed that the same smoke was appearing outside my house. I ran to the front door, and realised I was dreaming, as there are not football pitches near my house. Again, I was stunned at how realistic everything was. I have always wanted to be lucid in my house and just walk around, and that is exactly what I did. And this time I remembered to look at my hands! The first time I tried it was quite dark, so I tried turning on a light, and no luck. So I moved to another room and the light did switch on. I looked at my hands, and at first they appeared normal. But then every now and again, an extra finger would appear on the end of both hands! I was so happy, it didn't freak me out at all. I remained very calm and made sure I didn't try and do anything, I just enjoyed the experience. I went to look for food, and found some chocolates, that I assumed were my sisters even though they weren't real. And I felt guilty about eating them! I had to remind myself again and again that I was dreaming. I then suddenly remebered one of the things I wanted to do: seek a spirit guide. I called out 'Can I see my spirit guide?', but it was very half-hearted and I didn't really expect anything to happen. I walked into the living room, still eating a chocolate, which unfortunately didn't seem to have much taste. I said the same thing a little louder, and at first, nothing happened. But then I looked outside the window, and a red, robot-looking thing was in my garden. It was half the size of me, and slightly resembled a vaccum! I stared at it in astonishment, and then woke up.
I am so happy, I see these as being my first PROPER lucid dreams, where I had complete awareness, and managed to maintain lucidity for at least 2-6 minutes (it was had to tell, time felt different). I do't put my attaining lucidity down to reality checks. I thnik it was the technique I was using. Mingling together the two states of awareness, so my regular awake-brain was waking up, and then I was going back to sleep, if you see what I mean. It felt almos inevitable that I would realise I was dreaming sooner or later. Sorry about the length of this, but it felt great knowing I had so much to type!
Could anyone give me any tips on how to maintain lucidity and awareness? I remeber feeling like I was constantly about to lose lucidity, and this made me nervous about trying something in case I became too interested and lost lucidity. I guess I should stop being lazy and check the section designed for those tips anway:P But I'll ask too. Thanks in advance :)

Awesome. It sounds like you have made some serious progess, and I am really envious. As for maintaining lucidity, it sounds like you did quite well, taking it slow and everything. I have difficulty because I am not patient. The next time I dream lucidly I am definitely just going to chill out and examine things for a bit. You can't expect it to be perfect the first few times (I do though... silly me). I have a completely untested (by me anyway) idea you can try though. Try periodically affirming to yourself that you are dreaming. You can try telling everyone that you meet in your dream that you are dreaming, or if that's not your style (wouldn't be mine >_>) just tell yourself "I am dreaming" every now and then. Another idea that just struck me is try finding an item, say a necklace or watch or something and tell yourself "As long as I am wearing this, I will be lucid". Then put it on or otherwise keep it on your person. Whenever you feel nervous about lucidity or feel it fading just grasp the object and affirm yourself. Will it work? I dunno I just randomly thought it up. Sounds like a good idea to me though, in fact I may try it myself! Power of suggestion is uber-powerful.

That actually sounds like a great idea, and i'll definitely try it. I remember trying to tell myself I was dreaming every few seconds in the last lucid dream, but I forgot after the first minute or so. It's so easy to get hooked up into stuff. I just think I found the technique that works for me. Setting an alarm for 15 minutes later every time it goes off, so I keep waking up. It makes me practice getting to sleep, and whe you're so tired, you seem to just drift off. It also feels like I'm aware as soon as the dream begins, but I need something just to clarify it, and this usually happens after about a minute. It's as if my awareness is switched on, it just needs to get a little brighter, I dunno.
Thanks for the suggestin, i'll definitely try it! I thought about putting finding an ipod and putting on a made-up song that just goes 'Woo, you're dreaming! Yeah, you're dreaming' over and over :P
