i think there might be a way to mimic REM when awake to be able to see vivid dream scenes by closing your eyes. like if u stare at something for a long time when u close your eyes u can still see the image. that would be so cool

So what you're saying is that there might be a way to dream while being awake? And it's also vivid? I don't know, it doesn't seem plausible. You'd probably have to be in an environment with little to no distraction.
I think what you're talking about is called an after image. It's just your retinas being exhausted in some areas, creating what looks like a negative image. It doesn't have anything to do with dreaming.Quote:

would this be like the weird contrivance of a psychomantium? It's basically a room with a chair and a mirror, and you sit in the complete dark staring at the mirror. If you do it enough, it apparently causes you to have visions of dead relatives or dead people in general. Theres some plausability to the existence of something like this, but it'd be more like letting your imagination run in complete isolation, like the isolation chambers in that episode of the simpsons (I trust everybody knows which episode I'm talking about).
no, i do not
whatever then. I think I got my point across.
The only isolation chamber I can think of is from Rocketman.
John Jacob Jingle Heimer Smidchts! Or somethin'...
When you stare at something for along time the image is burned into the retina (as far as im aware), thats why you see it for a few seconds afterwards.Quote:

The imagery was as real as real life but the excitement of seeing it would always cause me to lose focus. Basically from what i can gather i was inducing hypnogogic imagery in a "fully" concious state with just my eyes closed. So as opposed to full dreams, i was getting flashes of very realistic imagery like some kind of crazy brain slideshow.
It was like as Snakecharmer said for me though, i would always need to be in a quiet distraction free place to get really clear imagery.
Best of luck,
Roo,
p.s Its interesting you bring the subject up because im just starting to practice this again :bigteeth:.
