completely stuck.

I'm having trouble seeing in my dreams. especially lucid ones. either my vision is blurry, something is blocking my view, or I'm stuck. what I mean by that is, like this morning I was...dreaming appearently, only I was lying in my own bed, but I was stuck, I could only see part of the blankets and that side of the room..it's like my vision was stuck there. the odd thing was that it looked exactly like that when I woke up, maybe I was on the verge of an OBE or something. I don't know. also I had a lucid dream a few days ago, and I was in this small room with a window and the curtins were pulled back with light shining in but the room was still dark. I tried lighting some candles but no matter what I did the room was dark and I couln't see. this is frustrating me beyond believe. I'm wondering if it has something to do with stress? I really don't know. any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I had some lucid dreams like that one you described, yesterday i had it again. I couldn't see good, my eyes were like half closed and i could see my blanket at the right corner of my vision. I put the blanket away using a lot of effort and then i looked at my hand. I could see only half of it because of a distortion in the image.

I dont know what's causing this but i know that in order to get unstuck, you have to believe(as allways) that you can. Try to stay relaxed, maybe say to yourself that it is a dream. To avoid it in the future i will get used to make a consciousnes check (to ask myself questions about my name and adress and maybe do simple maths) just after i become lucid. It worked for me in the past and i think it is a good "first" thing to do.

you know I think all this crap is just caused by stress. in addition to the frustrating dream I had this morning, last night I had a dream that I wrestled a cheetah...I dunno, to protect my family I think. yeah, I bet you're laughing now in front of your monitor, paperdoll wrestling a cheetah haha. but it's not funny. it hurt. it was frustrating. oh and I just remembered, a dream I had right before that where this weird guy tried to take advantage of me. and no one would help me. and that same night I dreamt about the dark room, I dreamt that I had to climb this long staircase that had no rail. ok I've officially realized that I'M STRESSED.

i'll have dreams where vision is limited to whatever i'm focusing on. like if i'm looking at someone’s face... that’s all i can see. i can't explain it very well but i certainly think it's related to some form of stress. -- good luck, i'd try what android suggested... it's a dream, you can beat it! :D

That does seem like stress to me. Stress can make your dream recall pretty crappy. It's not that you are having blurry dreams, it's just that the vividity of them are lost because your subconcious tired, frustrated, or preoccupied with something else.

If you feel like it, you can try meditation. That might help.

Do you meditate? this can relieve stress...you could also go to get Acupuncture! or to a Kiropracter(eek...spelling)
Studying stress in pych...it really can be a big thing to deal with, and it is important to KNOW how to relieve it.

What kind of things have you tried to overcome these blurry dreams...have you tried extreemely forceful and loud VERBAL commands? or anything of the like....

Yes meditation is a very good way for overcoming stress, and it is very rewarding for many other things too, including lucid dreaming. Off course if you have real problems meditation isn't going to make them disapear but it may clear your mind so that you can find a way to overcome them.

Well i think tht should work as well as other methods we normally use in our LD, but the problem(for me at least) is that when i have thins dreams i usually dont have a very high level of lucidity and that results in forgeting my usuall techniques...if you remember it though it surely may help...

Paperdoll. The on part of the dream you described (about your vision being stuck there)I believe was a form of sleep paralysis. You are beginning to awake therefore you can begin to see because your vision is what comes to you first while the rest of your body is a little slow to catch up somtimes. I have had that happen and at first it was scary. It was like truely being paralized - briefly.

Yeah I agree with Howetzer on that PPD. I've had that happen several times usually once Im coming out of a Lucid Dream and I for once awaken prematurely. Then I find myself with sleep paralysis and Im pretty much stuck there looking at the window in front of me. But that mostly occurs when im stressed also. I think when you're pretty much stressed in life you don't tend to sleep as long so you're pretty much going to wake up earlier than normal. Have you found yourself not sleeping as long as you usually do?

Oh ya, meditation is great.

I credit my first few LD's partially due to meditation.

I had a blurry LD the other night, in which I was flying high above the city. Then again, I'm a stressed out person, especially the day before that dream happened.

I've had the blurriness before too. Also I have some crazy surreal tunnel vision. This is partially due to the fact the your state of consciousness is near the border of dreaming and waking. It's like some of the circuits in the visual perception area of your brain (the occipital lobe for the nerds like me out there) are working in dream-mode and some are not giving a muddled perception of an image. Essentially, your brain is partway to realizing that your eyes aren't really seeing anything, hence a confused image.

I think the only remedy is to fall deeper into the dream, which I think ya'll are right about stress interfering with that. Oh, did you know that having a high level of stress makes you more vulnerable to illness? Also, people who live stressful lives (like cops) have a higher incident of heart disease and stroke. Also, they have a younger life expectency.

hmm...quite possible. I think I was asleep, but maybe I was paralysed, half asleep, then I closed my eyes and dozed off for a few minutes and just thought it was a dream?

oh. that's nice.

last night I dreamed about this guy with a hammerhead for one hand, a knife for the other hand, and he had pins all in his head. it was pretty freaky. also something about bugs, all I remember is being totally freaked out.

I think death metal gets a bad rap for being negetive. Why does it have to negative?
Stress? how do you deal with it?

actually it helps me calm down sometimes. the kind of metal I like has classical in it. and I do NOT listen to death metal, mostly black. black metal and death metal are two totally different things.

Anymore bad dreams? I thought of somthing I posted a long time ago about the temperature of your room. I find when I get to hot it seem to contribute to me having nightmares. Just a thought.

Yeah I agree.. Nothings wrong with Black Metal it's all music.. and music is supposed to be self expressive right? Just like Gangsta Rap Music is some people expressing their own enviorment and things that they've experienced in Urban Societies

Anyway about your dreams it pretty much signals that there's some crap you're having trouble with, which you confirm because you're stressed...
Try to take some more time for yourself or something, meditation can apperantly help, oh and ofcourse deal with all the stressy stuff, but perhaps thats impossible right now, dunno, but i'm sure you can figure it out, :D *comforting pat on the back*
