I woke up at 5:00 to do DILD (without recording in my journal, i stopped a while ago but decided to start again today actually). I remembered just a small fragment of the last part of my dream. All I really remembered is a pale webbed hand.
So I focused on the hand and what ever was behind it. In a few seconds, it felt like every limb in my body had fallen asleep (like when your leg falls asleep when you sit on it), and I felt paralyzed. It was weird. I was exited though, not scared, because I knew that was supposed to happen.
But I think the exitement snapped me out of it, and then I fell asleep normally. But why did it feel like every limb in my body had fallen asleep? And was I almost successfull?

Well, you were successful in experiencing sleep paralysis. It's a mechanism that kicks in that keeps your body from acting out your dreams, physically. Your brain sort of "shuts off" its connection from your body's mobility, every night, as you're going to sleep.
This happens for a while and tends to get deepr and deeper, often accompanied by a gentle sense of vibration. Somewhere along that time you'll start getting hypnogogic imagery, which is like short waves of dream content, flashing lights, or full images. Staying "awake" (or rather "conscious") through this should put you directly into a lucid dream, considering you dont' simply get lost in the imagery and start dreaming, regularly.
