Hey I while ago I was at my grandmas house and it was the middle of the night when i woke up. I thought I was fully awake but i guess not. I could see all my suroundings like the door leading outside the room and I could almost fully think. The scary part though was out of nowhere wierd zombie like people started walking in the room. I thought i was awake but this started to happen and i was creeped out. Does anyone know why this happened when i was almose fully awake?
Yeah, this'll happen every now and then. (At least it's happened to me a few times.)
If it wasn't just a false awakening (if it was, you would have awoken again and still have been in your bed) then it was a sort of residual dream. The waking world senses have to "kick in" when you go from the dream state to the waking state. Sometimes they will kick in at different times. The rest of your body will be awake, but you'll either be hearing, seeing, etc. stuff from your dream state.
I've had many experiences with this and, yeah, it can be freaky as shi0t.
Just to add to what Oneironaut said, if it wasn't a false awakening, then the term for what you saw is hypnopompic imagery. It's similar to hypnogogic imagery that one may see when falling asleep or entering into a WILD, but occurs as you're waking up.
yeah i had somthing like that last night... but it wasnt with zombies just splotches of color started blocking my vision even though i had my eyes open.
Yeah once a load of insane people from my Ld in a mental hospital wth padded walls ( hey it was fun ) started bouncing around my room when my eyes were fully open

yea its some freak stuff is damn straight, one time I woke up and saw a glass cat stting at the foot of my bed, blinked and it went away,the next time I saw an ovehang forming on the ceiling then I closed my eyes again and it dissapeared, and most recently(I can remember the triggering dream) in the dream I was covered in rats, I woke up abruptly and saw a rat run across my t.v., its all in your imagination just try to keep calm if you wake up in the middle of the night.
The other night I was staring at my ceiling and these bodies started appearing up there......now I know why. :)
This has happened to me, but I always think there are people sitting with me.
