Long Lucid Dreams
In the last few months as I have been looking into dreaming I have heard of dreams lasting years, tens of years. Stories of century long dreams make me wonder if there is a way to controll this.
Is there a way to control the lenghth in dream time your dream is, and if not, could one be found?

I remember reading about this once long ago at ld4all.
I don't believe this is voluntary. Though I have had dreams that seemed to last days, (Longest one I remember was around a week long) I have not had any that lasted beyond that length of time. Though it is probable that people will have them.
Problem is, do you really want a dream that last that long? Especially a lucid one where you are concious? There would be many problems arising from that, including when you finally awaken. (Or decide to awaken)

From what I've heard they only last hours in real life, but they seem to last days or years. It'd be nice to take a week long vacation in 2 hours with complete omnipotence.

Personally, I've had one that lasted an entire day, but it was a lucid dream that took place in four different dreams. I MILDed between each dream segment.
I also had one that spanned two weeks, but that one was semi-low level lucid.
Usually, I have a one to one correspondance with real time. That is, an hour in real time = an hour in dream time

Do you think verbal commands might work? They might only have an effect on time within the dream, but you might be able to focus enough to cause time to stop or maybe cause you to leave the physical universe, and leave behind time, or travel to another universe and operate on their time and not ours.
I'm not experienced enough with LDing to really try this, I've only had a few and at least three were in the last two nights(hopefully I'll get another one tonight). I think tonight I'll try to fly and have a war battle around my house, PLA crossing the river in rubber boats anyone?

i'm confused... are you saying that one will stay in REM for an hour, making the dreams longer?
