Ok so, I remember having a few Lucid Dreams as a young kid, probably 6-8 years old. Once I started to get older I can't remember having them and I didn't even know what they were.
That was until a few months ago when I stumbled across the wikipedia entry on them. I became very intrigued and started keeping a DJ. I started recalling dreams more frequently but about two weeks ago I kind of got disheartened and slacked off with recording my dreams.
Then a few nights ago I had a lucid. At first I was skateboarding with two friends on a dark street near my apartment building. We only had two boards though so I decided to run back to my place to get my board. As I started to run I seemingly ran into another dream. The scenery around me changed and suddenly I found myself in the woods at nighttime. Once I realized that I was actually at this sleep away camp I worked at last summer I was like "hey wtf??? how did I just teleport?" Then I realized that I had to have been dreaming.
My first thought was "and why is it so dark?" then suddenly everything lit up and I found myself looking around at the woods surrounding me. Everything was so real and lifelike, all the green colors of the trees and plants were so vibrant. It was like it was even more realistic than real life. I could even feel the heat of the sun. Then I got really excited once I realized the extent of what was happening and I tried to force my dream to make Pamela Anderson appear, lol  . Then the dream started to fade though, probably triggered by the excitement I'm guessing. I found myself in this white world where everything was white. It was kind of like the matrix. My dad appeared at some point and told me to focus to try and get back in the dream. Thats the last thing I remember though so I'm pretty sure the dream just faded.
So my question is this: What's the next step to being able to have more lucids and how can I stay calm? It was just so cool, I want to have another so badly.
Oh and also last night I kept telling myself "I will have a dream involving my summer camp and realize it" while trying to fall asleep and I did have a dream where one of my campers was a part of it but I didn't realize I was dreaming. Is this a good sign that I'm getting more control or just a coincidence?

HEELO and welcome to the Forum scorch6744!! :)
Congrats on the Lucid.
One of my first lucid dreams also in tailed very vivid colors and predominately green. It was sooo cool.
Be patient.
You know now that lucid dreaming is obtainable. Be confident.
Try to use some of the techniques in the Tutorials for some pointers.
As far as getting excited...talk to yourself, calm yourself down.
Looking at something stable, the ground, your hands often prolong lucidity by bring the focus back onto the dream scene.
The gaol is to not let your conscious mind overshadow your subconscious, sleeping mind.

I think becoming aware of the lucid dream scene is one easy way to have more. In the beginning it is almost near impossible to not become excited, I think the more often you have lucid dreams the more natural they feel. And the easier it will be to control them. Keeping stable by looking at the ground often helps, I use the sense of touch by running my hand around textures and surfaces, sometimes the other senses work as well (except for sight).
The best way would be to keep a static frame of mind without becoming too overwhelmed with the whole experience. Keep at it.
