This was probably the longest lucid dream I have ever had. It went for ages, and was quite interesting and eventful.
I previously had woken from a dream in a forest like area, and fell asleep thinking about it.
In the new dream, I was in a similar forest area, and I recognised it, and thought to myself, "hey, this is a dream!" At the time I was at the top of a cliff looking down at the forest below. So I jumped off the cliff, and pulled up from the dive just before I hit the ground. Then I started flying around the forest, weaving through the trees, and concentrating on having greater flight control.

After a while, the dream began to fade, and my vision blacked out completely. I shut my eyes tightly and did the spinning technique to try to remain in the dream. I also thought about the scene I wanted to be waiting for me when I opened my eyes (being in space with colourful galaxies all around me). I was still very aware it was a dream.

When I felt like the dream had stabilised, I opened me eyes. I was in my room lying in bed, but I was immediately pretty sure that I was still dreaming. I had maintained an uninterrupted consciousness during the transition. I checked my bedside clock, and I was running really late for when I had to be at work that morning (I always seem to be running late in dreams). Anyway, I was fairly sure I was dreaming. I then went outside to see if I could make myself levitate. I could. I find that these small things in LD's feel the most real and the most amazing. I then remembered that having a jetpack or similar is supposed to help you fly better, because it gives your mind more reason to believe it's possible. I was in my driveway, and I opened my car, willing a jetpack to be in it. But there was nothing but a desk chair. I thought I could pretend that it was a jetpack, so I sat on the chair and began to fly over the suburbs of near where I live. The chair actually did give me a bit more flying speed than usual, but I soon threw it away because I had to hold onto it, and it was a hassle. As I flew over the houses and trees of the suburbs, there was theme music playing, like I was a cartoon super hero or something, and I was flying to the music. This flying went on for what seemed like quite a while.

Then I started blacking out again, and did the spinning technique. I again also thought of the scene I wanted to create. I had my eyes closed.

I again opened my eyes in bed, remembering the lucid dream I was just having. I checked my clock, and I was again running late for work, so I was pretty sure I was still dreaming. I then went outside, and was able to make myself levitate. I then realised that my driveway was full of awesome sports cars. I when quickly back into my house to ask my brother and a couple of my friends that were randomly there to come with me. They started coming, but they were taking ages to get ready, and were locking the doors. This really annoyed me because it was wasting my LD. I was still aware that I was dreaming. I jumped into a red Ferrari, and was waiting for the others to climb in, but they hopped into a white Skyline. I thought, "Oh screw them," and slammed the car into reverse, and pulled out on to the road. I slammed it straight into first gear (manual car), and the wheels skidded as I took off. The others pulled out and began following me. I accelerated as fast as I could, and sped down the hill I live on. I hit a small hillcrest and the car when completely airborne. I continued speeding down the hill (which no longer resembled the one I really live on- it was now really, really high) and came across hillcrest after hillcrest, each time getting progressively more and more air. It was like a San Francisco car chase- except that the air that I was getting defied gravity. The last and biggest jump was at least 100 m long and lasted for seconds. The car smashed on impact of this jump, so I climbed out of the wrecked car. I was now in a downtown area. I started flying over a massive highway, and tried to thrown power balls at the cars bellow, Dragon Ball Z style. But before I tried, I remembered reading in a post on Dreamview that trying to throw power balls while flying will usually result in loss of flight. When I tried, I didn't loose flight, but I wasn't able to shoot a power ball either.

I then started blacking out again, and did the spinning technique. I again kept my eyes shut until I felt the dream stabilise. I also thought about the scene I wanted to create.

This time, I ended up in the Harry Potter World, in the Hogworts castle (although it looked nothing like I usually imagine it). I'm not sure whether I appeared there, or went there after appearing somewhere else. I don't remember that small part of the dream. I was still lucid. Anyway, there were a few of the Harry Potter characters, and Dumbledor told Hermione to return to her dormitory. I followed her, and managed to get myself in as well.

I then blacked out again, and did the spinning procedure.

[Scene missing] it had something to do with being in some room with a couple of my friends, but I don't remember much about it, nor how it links with the next scene.

Next, I was in the lounge room of my house, with my parents and brother. I was discussing the past parts of the dream I was still in, aware at the time that I was dreaming. I was also trying to list and remember all the episodes in it, so that I would remember them when I awoke. At the time, within the dream, I thought to myself that I would have to write a post for Dreamview about the dream, because it was such a marathon LD. I was also describing the past parts of the dream to my parents, with my brother interrupting from time to time to add his perspective of the parts of the dream that he had been in. When I had finished listing off the episodes of the dream, my brother said, "and that's just what Zack (the author) has been up to. Wait until you hear what I've been up to." My dad replied, "oh come on Nate (my brother), this is Zack's dream. Let him have the attention." I responded with, "no, go ahead. I want he hear what else my subconscious has been up to, because that's all you are (I was still lucid)."

I then had another false awakening in bed, after again blacking out and doing the spinning thing. Except this time I WAS fooled: I thought I really had awoken. My bedside clock showed a realistic time, and I was able to repeatedly re-read a word I could see from my bed. So I did a reality check, but it failed me.

I soon blacked out again, and did the spinning technique. When I opened my eyes I KNEW I was awake (at least I think so, if not, I'm still asleep as I am writing this). I then started writing some notes about the dream in my dream diary.

So that's my dream. The levels of lucidity varied from high to quite low, but I was lucid throughout the whole dream (except that last false awakening).

What I learned most from the dream is that the spinning technique works a charm to bring back fading dreams. Thanks you LaBerge for discovering. I highly recommend using it!

The dream also reviled some problems. Please help me with suggestions.

Question 1:do other people black out so regularly during long lucid dreams? They seem to have been evenly spaced out, like they would occur every 10 min or so. That makes me think that I might be psychological thing, not a problem with dream control. What do you think?

Question 2: How have you been able to improve changing the scene in a dream to another one that you want? Every time I blacked out and did the spinning technique, I thought about where I wanted to be where I opened my eyes, but it never worked. I know it’s an issue of dream control, which is generally a matter of practice, but do you have any tips.

Thanks for reading. Please comment if you think you might be able to help, or if you have any other comments.
