I finally had a lucid dream again this morning!!!
I briefly woke up (my wife was trying to get me to get up but I told her I needed 20 more minutes.)
I went back to sleep but in my dream I got up. I noticed I was dreaming when looking in the bathroom mirror -my glasses were all bent up and my eyes looked funny.
I excitedly did some of my favorite reality tests - putting the fingers of my left hand through the palm of my right - and then some experiments looking at a newspaper advertisement, trying to memorize/understand the words. The words would do crazy things; first of all, they weren't really in english or any language, and they would turn upside down or backwards.
I tried walking through my screen door to the porch but somewhere along the line, normal reality caught up to me and I wasn't able ot move through it. For fear of ripping it, I stopped and decided to teleport outside instead. So I sat down and closed my eyes, hoping that when I opened them I'd be on the porch. Instead I was on my bed, almost as if I had actually woken up in real life, but this was a false wakening too.
Anyhow, I am SO THRILLED to WAKE UP in my dreams again. 5 years ago I was having lucid dreams on a steady basis....not even every week but at least once or twice a month, and was able to do crazy things like float around and notice how I feel my sleeping body as well as my dreaming body, etc.
One thing I did do last night was use my Sirius Sound and Light Machine to help me fall asleep, all the while trying to affirm to myself that I would have a lucid dream. I also have begun to write down "lucid dream affirmations" AKA things like "I always wake up in my dreams" and "I have lucid dreams everynight." I don't know if there's a relationship here b/t these things and having a LD finally, once again, but you can be sure I'll continue to do them.
I'm confident 2007 will bring me the craziest, most intense LD experiences of my life thus far.

Congrats Ben! I just had my first LD (in about a month) last night. It is amazing how one LD can reinvigorate your desire to get back into it seriously. It's amazing how fun it is to walk around your own house in a dream! That's all I did and I had a blast! lol

I know how you feel. In January of last year until around May I was having lucid dreams on a regular basis. My dream recall was superb. When I switched jobs, however, it all stopped due to the stress. I simply haven't been in the mood until recently to experiment with dreams again.

Yes, having a LD experience TOTALLY invigorates and inspires one to do it again...
Thanks for the responses.
Tonight I know I will have another one. :)
(Here we go with the positive affirmations again!)
