Ok i went to bed last night and said to myself "I'm going to have a false awakening tonight and do a reality check" well IT WORKED!!!

I got out of bed and i looked in a mirror. My eyes looked demonic, so i got scared for a second. then i realized it
had to be a dream, so i did a RC. It felt so good to breath! so i looked at my hands to stabilize the dream. the first thing i thought of was go to change the dream scape so i started to spin, but then i woke up!! WTF!! please leave comments!!

Welcome to the joys and frustrations of lucid dreaming.

Spinning, looking at your hands, etc.. they are general ideas that work for most. But they don't work for everyone. The main thing is to stay calm, which is VERY hard in a lucid dream the first 100 times or so.

I find that the excitement of actually becoming lucid far outweighs the dissapointment of waking soon afterwards.

If this was your first, you now realize what most LDers do. We're not lying when we say it's totally amazing (or even possible&#33. That's the biggest hurdle for someone that hasn't LD, I think.

      Way to go, Elwood.
      Congrats on the first experience.

Keep at it, 'cause there is a lot more where that came from.

As this was your first lucid, I would recommend exploring where you are.. getting the feel of just being lucid. Save the tricks for later and the spinning perhaps for when you feel the dream begin to fade.

I was actually pretty calm, but when i first realized i was dreaming i was excited but kept it under control. Why did i wake up when i started spinning? I thought it was supposed to stabilize a dream?

Actually, in my experience, it's the exact opposite.
Spinning destabilizes the dream and makes it easier to change scenes.
Doing something like staring at an object, or your hands, helps ground you into the dream and usually makes things much more clear.

I have always found that when I get too excited about something in a dream it makes me wake up. Usually if I just let things go and explore the LD will last a lot longer.
