Meh, I already posted this in my original post in the beginner area, as well as my dream journal but I want more praise/congratulations (so I like imaginary gold stars, wut?). First LD's are worth that much, right?

This isn't really my first LD, per se, but it was my first one that lasted longer than 15 seconds, so I'm counting it. I was walking down some stairs when I thought I might be dreaming, so I decided to leap down the stairs head-first as a RC (pretty dumb, considering I've already cut one of my other L.D.'s short by killing my dream self...). Luckily, though, I didn't die, or (more importantly) wake up, and I realized I was dreaming.

This led to a bunch of experiments. I didn't do the task of the month, because I hadn't read it yet... but I tried to: summon something (failed), fly (could only jump pretty high), float (succeeded), talk to dream characters (succeeded), do the spinning trick to stay Lucid (succeeded), and find my "dream guide" (failed).

I lost Lucidity after a false awakening, but I'm pretty pleased with how much I got done. My dream journal has more details, for anyone who cares...

I know, right? :sweat1: I usually go for the plug-your-nose, or read-a-line-twice check. I can only think that maybe I was already convinced I was dreaming by that point, and taking a dive was just the last step... or maybe I was still a bit foggy from being in a dream-state. I don't remember exactly what I was thinking because the false awakening dream screwed with my memory a bit.

(oand moar gold stars plz kthx)

If ever you stop posting for a long time, we'll know what happened...
"He must have thought he was dreaming again" we'll say and hope you only bounced down one flight of stairs.
...Still, rock on!

Wow, if there's anyone who has motivation to get what you want done, it's surely you. I'd be lucky if I even remember what I want to do in a LD [so I mainly do random stuff].

You really put LDs to good use, hopefully you get more Lds that are that long [or longer] more often.

Heh, thanks, but the reason I was so focused in my LD was probably because I've been spending time on this site. I didn't feel like I was going through a logical process while carrying out my "experiments". In fact, I can relate to just doing "random stuff" - from what I can remember from my LD, I just did the first thing that popped into my head. However, because I've been studying other people's LD's, the first things that popped into my head were things other people have tried doing, or wanted to do.

Can someone please tell me what a dream guide is? I read the glosssary definition but I still don't fully understand it. Is it some dude in your dream that tells you how to do stuff? How do you "find" the Dream Guide. I can't have a dream guide if I don't even know what it is because my brain won't make one. Please help me out.

:mutter: (Give me a freaking gold star and I'll tell you, Infraredkelp)

Meh, the best way to put it would be that a dreamguide is an uber-Dream Character. They don't respond to your questions with completely insane answers (well, they're not supposed to) and they can sometimes help you understand how to use your Lucid Dream abilities. I've never found such a character, but then, I've only had a couple LD's.

As for how to look for one, try this guide:

I have no idea whether or not I'll be able to find a dream guide (it's not like it's a proven phenomenon, nor, come to think of it, is it provable), but searching for one gives me a goal in my LD's.

That's the same 'strategy' I used. Spending a lot of time on this forum, so you remember things other people have tried doing.

And yep, that's a dreamguide.

oh... lol.

I was referring to the common practice of elementary school teachers to give you an essentially useless "Gold Star Sticker" or some such thing to reward you for good behavior. In other words, I was just asking for praise to boost my already over-inflated ego.

Don't worry about it tho, I'm fine for now. *sticks a gold star sticker on forehead*
