Have you ever been able to READ something written down, inside of a dream? After last night, i can say POSITIVELY that I CAN and have without a doubt done it.
I was telling my friend about this lucid dream i had about a week ago where i had this piece of paper in my hand. I remember it having all these random combinations of words on it (complete words not just jumbled letters), but i soon became dis-interested with their actual content as the paper began floating before my very eyes in defiance of gravity. I then got the idea to tear it up into all these small pieces, and all the pieces continued to float before my eyes, with each particle rotating in seemlingly random directions and speeds within this anti-gravity field.
Anyway, i said something about wishing i could remember what it said on the Paper, and we got into this whole debate on whether or not it was possible for me to have done so... even if i wouldnt have thought about it in the dream. Now my friend has had some experience with lucid dreams and he tried to convince me that it was impossible to perform such a task within a dream, but i THOUGHT i had done so before in dreams, but i coudln't really be POSITIVE of the fact that i had.
Well just last night, 2 days after discussing the idea with my friend. I have a non-lucid dream where i try to read something inside a dream and it appeared, as he predicted, all jumbleded and random combinations of numbers... well i immediately recongnized this as a dreamsign... and became lucid... My attention went elsewhere and before too long I woke up for real...
BUT... I have grown quite adept at re-entering my dreams via Wake Induced Lucid Dreams, especially if i have just come out of a lucid dream, and i can sometimes go in and out of lucidity 5-6 times in a row...
Well the next Lucid dream that i have after the first one, i found this newspaper sitting on a desk, and I BEGAN READING IT aloud... infront of a whole crowd of dream characters... intentially displaying my ability.
Im not really sure if this is extraordinary or what... my friend just seemed to think it was impossible and i can see where he's coming from since trying to read something is supposed to be considered a relible form of a reality check inside of a dream.

Well ummm, i actually can read stuff in my dreams, and remember what i've read when i wake up - but if i don't quickly write it down i just forget it.
But yeah - i can read in dreams, i think that my Lucids are so lucid that my mind is fully concentrated on being lucid, thus everything in my lucid dreams becomes completely real (and thats why its VERY hard for me to do RC's). Though i like it cause i can still use stuff like special powers, though they seem to be something normal over there (in my lucid world) so i don't really take it as a dreamsign, and treat it like a thing i do everytime... hard to explain what i mean, really.

I wrote for some reason a poem on a wall.
It was the only text I have ever read while sleeping.
I have it written down somewhere.

I once read a book in a dream, but it was not really coherent and I forgot when I woke up... was a cool experience though!! I was really excited when I got up, but immediatly got sad when I couldn't remember the sentences

Thanks for the responses! I guess it is a pretty common ability.
hj477: you are correct... there certainly are more fun things to do in dreams!

Yeah, I can see where your friend was coming from too, I can read in my dreams but someone would consider it impossible if they can't because they haven't mastered the art of keeping text/symbols still or unchanging long enough to memorize what you read [now that I've mastered it, that is a bad RC for me]
