My first lucid dream where I had deliberate control over my actions was a fun one. I won't bore you with the details of all that I did, just everything pertaining to flight...

But the first thing I did, was flight. On LD4all, I remember after having this dream seeing a topic on people struggling with flying... which I couldn't believe, because it was so easy for me.

Anyway, it was a false awakening that turned into a lucid dream the second I did an RC.

Anyway, I got up to go downstairs, it was very dark in my house, as if it were night out. Anyway, I walked passed my parents room and my mom called out to me. I acknowledged her and went on my way... but before I went down the stairs, I just stopped.

I stopped and said... "I'm having a lucid dream right now and I'm walking to the fridge to get a snack."

I turned towards my moms dark dark room, and just went into a full sprint, right before I got to her wall I dove right into it as if I were diving into a swimming pool.

I busted out of her room and I was flying... like superman, just soaring. At first my arms were ahead of me just like super man but then I just relaxed them and put them at my side and continued to fly. IT was amazing... seriously. It was dark in my house but when I was outside and feeling the wind... it was amazing. They sky looked like it was in eternal dawn and dusk... I could never accuratly describe what the sky looked like to people who asked.... but it was amazing.

I have flown in my dreams before but never when I was lucid or had control... it was such an amazing experience and something I actually did for like six months and not getting bored of it. Hell, I'm still not bored of flight, it's just there are other things to do now that intrigue me more then flight.

What are your experiences with flight in lucid dreams? How did you do it? Did you have trouble?

Eerily similar to my first LD - I was going down the stairs when I just stopped and did a... well... it was more or less a RC.

I&#39;m jealous of your flying abilities, though. I tried to fly, but only managed to jump 20 ft or so into the air. Then again, I don&#39;t remember flying in any non-Lucids, and you seem to have had that experience, so maybe that&#39;s the difference. Or maybe it&#39;s because I don&#39;t care enough... for some reason, flying doesn&#39;t appeal to me as much as simply exploring the places my subconscious generates for me. Seems like you (and many others) think it&#39;s a worthwhile experience, though, so I&#39;ll try again next Lucid.

Exploring is fun but sometimes I explore by just hovering offthe ground and floating, haha. Okay, I don&#39;t explore when I do that but I do hover a few inches off the ground and float around.

Flying is always easy for me, but I find there&#39;s two types of flying for me.

There&#39;s sort of movement flyiing, where you just fly around to get to places.

Then there&#39;s extremely LUCID SUPERMAN flying which is much more fun.

Comparatively the superman flying is WAY more realistic feeling. You can feel everything you would in real life:

Wind...... Speed....... G forces...... all the exciting stuff.

when you have a really good session of Superman flying, you remember it well it&#39;s super fun.

My first lucid flying experience occurred last night. I was going outside and though I should try flying. I closed my eyes, jumped and flapped my arms and I was i the air. I moved wrong and crashed into the ground. I went outside and jumped and I was flying again.

You ever try to go as fast as you can into a body of water? It&#39;s so cool... at least on my end, soaring underwater.

I fly after shapeshifting into animals. I&#39;ve flown as an eagle, a small white bird like a dove, and a few times as a winged dragon, which was quite tricky because of my bulky body but I got off the ground and was soaring over the countryside. Once I was a wolf with wings (I know, really weird), and flew over a huge city. IT was amazing. Very freeing.

flying is ^%&#036;ing awsome in LD. I&#39;ve done it multiple times, and every time usually without hesitation. I&#39;ve stopped flying becuase I want to experience more. One thing I&#39;ve been doing now is jumping kung-fu like, through walls in my house. Thats a pretty interesting feeling. Try that when you get a chance.

Whoa, that&#39;s almost exactly like my first flying experience, except I dove through a window and flew once on the other side.
Heheh. Next time you are on dreamstairs, throw yourself down them.

My first experience with flight was very... abrupt, and somewhat involuntary. I remember that I was in a hotel, with a DC of mine, and he was shouting at me (My DCs tend to be very aggressive at times). I remember feeling empowered at the time, thinking along the lines of Who is he to tell me who I am? I don&#39;t have to put up with this. I remember responding to him, although I can&#39;t remember, for the life of me, what I said. At the same time, I somehow involuntarily manifested wings, and was brandishing them just as a bird might ruffle its feathers when threatened or challenged.

I did end up flying with these wings, although the entire experience felt wrong to me. I was going trough a spot of trouble in my personal life at the time, and as a result, many of my dreamscapes took on a bloodthirsty air of sorts. The last thing I remember was flying, full-throttle, towards the window of aforementioned hotel, and I closed my eyes, bracing for the impact that never came. When I opened my eyes, I was back in my bedroom, paralyzed.

It really didn&#39;t strike me until after I had gotten up and taken my midnight cup of coffee that it really struck me; Did I just seriously do that? I felt as if, I had read about others flying during their dream experiences, and as a result, it had just become a reflex of sorts. Still, I wouldn&#39;t consider that my first true LD flying experience; I was completely lucid, but I had very little control over my dream at the time; it much much too emotionally charged and I was much too new to the entire concept of dream control.

My second flight experience was an entirely voluntary one, and as such was very enjoyable. A few weeks after the above experience, when my personal life had cleared up somewhat (at least for the time being,) I woke up in an unusually controlled state of sleep paralysis. I projected myself forward, breaking the paralysis, and climbed out of my bedroom window (I had just recently discovered the wonders of the outdoors in my dreams). I remember thinking where I could go that was nearby, and then it occurred to me that I could just fly; no wings this time. In fact, it was more like levitation that anything else. I remember thinking that I was far too good at it for only my second go, but then I realized that I was simply achieving a higher level of dream control. It was really a milestone experience for me, although the dream itself fell apart shortly afterwards. The first words in my dream journal that morning were "Wow... just wow." It was that incredible.

Morning has broken; but I lay dreaming.
Music plays on; but I lay dreaming.
The world got up, but I lay dreaming.

The whole world screams my name,
But I won&#39;t play their game.
The whole world can go to hell,
I just want to dream well.</div>

      Nice Avatar threadstarter.

Last night was actually my first experience with flight in a LD and I couldn&#39;t do it.

When I became lucid from the ND (I&#39;ll spare the details) I jumped through my wall out into my yard (first experience with going through solid objects ) I decided to try to fly. I looked up, assured my self that the only limit was the sky, and jumped&#33; I ended up jumping about 20 feet in the air and semi-floating, but slowly I was pulled back to the ground. I tried again and again. Then I sprouted wings on myself and tried. I got a bit higher than I had before, and flapping my wings helped a bit, but still no complete flight. Finally, I tried a jetpack, but it didn&#39;t work either.

Oh well. It was still more control than I usually have in a LD, and I finally passed through a solid object, so I&#39;m happy.

Tips on how I can overcome myself and finally fly? I really think the only thing stopping me was the fact that I know some people have trouble with it, which I think worried me a bit in the dream.

My first experience with flying was a few months back. After becoming Lucid I found myself in a industrial estate thinking I have to try flying. I knelt down and pushed off as hard as I can and everything flew past in a blur I could not really see what I was flying past and I landed hard on a dark beach lit with small fires. It was almost like the way Clark flew in Smallville but really fast ha ha

My second flying experience was slightly calmer. I was in a office like the one I work in and I floated up to one of the desks. I then jumped and kind of glided over all the desks in the office in a way that seemed effortless it was great

Anyway I just thought I would share this experience

For me, when I had problems of flying, I could only do it for so long then I would have trouble and begin fall and I would land hard. Then I would try again and the next time i flew, it became less, less and less. Then when I really became enthralled that in one of my lucid dreams, it just seemed natural and I never got tired or had trouble. My perception was that I thought about flying and it became a hassle. When it comes to flying, i just do it, like walking you know. Then I got over my troubles with flying in my dreams.

My first flying lucid was me in a restaraunt slowly lifting up over everyone, since them i&#39;ve flown ovr my school, bounced and floated near the ceieling in another school, and flown with glass boots (don&#39;t ask I was like WTF too) over to a facy sports car for a race in a foreign town and then lost lucidity. Most of my flight comes from jumping and jumping off cliffs or falling. Somehow I know I can, yet it doesn&#39;t necessarily bring on lucidity.
