So, yesterday night I had my first (and second) lucid dream after a long, long time... nearly a year.

It was a DILD:

The pre-lucid dream was pretty long and intricate, so I'll skip to the good part. I was at a park with a couple of friends, watching a few white tigers that were behind a tree from far away. My friends then got into a white SUV and drove off, leaving me there by myself. It was starting to get dark, so I started getting a little scared, and somehow I found a very bright flashlight that I thought would keep me safe.

At this point, I became lucid. I flew high up to the sky, and at first, the view was amazing... I could see every little house in detail from far away. Then in a few seconds, all the houses started looking like toy houses, badly computer drawn, and as I would turn around, there would be a "loading time" for the houses to start showing. I was afraid this would make me wake up, so I flew down to one of the buildings. When I got to the ground, it didn't look like a bad computer drawing anymore, but I was still on the verge of waking up, so cried out loud "increase lucidity..." twice. Nothing happened. I cried it out loud once again, really meaning it this time, at which time, I felt really strong wind hitting me from the side, along with a blast of vividness.

I remembered I had been wanting to meet my dream guide, so as I walked towards a building, I yelled out "where's my dream guide?" Nothing. As I opened a door at a building, I concentrated on seeing my dream guide on the other side, but instead, it was a stairway leading down. I walked down to the next floor, and there was another door... as I opened it, I once again concentrated on seeing my dream guide there. Instead, I walked into a place that reminded me of a light-brown colored warehouse. The first DC that I saw, was a lady that was about 50 years old, and I asked her "are you my dream guide?" She said "no." This kinda frustrated me, and on the verge of giving up, I asked: "Do you know where I can find my dream guide?" To my surprise, she said "Yeah, follow me this way..." We walked about 100 feet, a few DCs walked past me, and then she pointed me to a light-toned black man, in his 30s, with very short hair.

Thus, I met my dream guide!

I walked towards him and asked "Are you my dream guide?" He said "yes" in a very calm, soft, and comforting voice. I decided to test his knowledge on me to be sure of it.
"How old am I?"
He quickly answered "23."
"Well, do you know anything about my personality?"
As he was about to start answering, I was starting to get a very happy feeling, and was couldn't help but let out a couple of tears of happiness for having such an amazing experience...
He replied to my question "You have been trying to hide back your crying of emotion, but you couldn't hold it any longer."
"Yeah, but that's pretty obvious." (considering I had tears on my face)
"Ok, sometimes you feel guilty about things that is/are intoxicating." I have yet to fully understand the meaning of this, but when I used drugs, I would always feel very guilty about it... I imagine this is what he meant.

The dream quickly faded away and I woke up. I stayed in bed and tried to go back to sleep... I had another DILD, which I became lucid almost instantly.

I was near a few buildings, and there were thousands of fish floating in the air, all equidistant from one another, and not moving... just floating. I walked towards a door and said "I want to see my dream guide." Inside was just an old-looking house, one room only, without any windows, and the paint was very old and was the color maroon. There was a door on the other side, so I walked towards it and said "I want to see my dream guide" as I opened the door. I stepped on the backyard of the house, the light outside made it look like dawn. The grass was tall, and there were a couple of stones on the ground that looked like gravestones. Sitting by one of them, was the same man from my previous dream. He had yard gloves on both hands. I walked up to him, and was about to shake his hands... he removed his glove and we shook hands. I said "I'm sorry, I didn't have time to say goodbye on the last dream, I woke up"
"That's alright"
"So, you are really my dream guide?"
"Yes, yes I am."
"Well, how are you?" I asked.
"Doing very well, thank you."

This is all the conversation I remember before waking up once again.

Both times I met him, he was very calm. His voice was soothing, and he had a very positive presence about him. Later today I realized I never asked his name. So, does it seem like I have really just met my dream/spirit guide? Is it possible that a dream character is trying to trick me? Do any of you know/read anything about spirit guides? Are they the same thing?

Congratulations! Meeting my DG was truly one of the most incredible experiences I've ever had. I only met her twice, in the same fashion as you. I was dreaming, called upon her, met her very briefly, woke up, fell back to sleep and met her again but in more detail. (Her name is Desiree, btw. )

The feeling I got when I met her just blew me away. It was like electricity running through my body. Did you feel this way, too? I've had such a difficult time finding her again, that I've decided to let it just come naturally.

Anyway, to answer your question simply from my *own* experience, I called on my "dream guide" and when she did introduce herself, she said she was my "spirit guide". So, if you trust my guide then I'd say that a DG and a SG are one and the same.

Please post again if you find him again. I'd love to hear more about your SG. I really want to talk to mine again.

Really interesting, tyrantt23. I had a DILD a while back which started off in a similar way to yours (a female DC told me she could take me to my DG, and I followed her). It's described here:

http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/index.php?...st&p=265888

I've often wondered what might have happened if I'd not woken up before reaching the DG... But your post makes me think that I was on the right track and could have found my DG. I'll have to try again. If I could prolong my LDs, I guess I'd be able to meet my guide...

Wow what an awesome experience! I really like how you forwardly state your intent in a dream, to increase vividness or to find your character. I'm usually very quiet in my LD's but i'm going to try this to increase my focus.

I haven't yet met my DG. Some of my DC's are very strange though. I've described in other posts that some feel weird and separate from the rest of the dream and often fill my whole body with an intense sensation of panic, which i've heard can be a sign of being in the presence of foreign energy.

From my experiences i'm actually a bit scared about seeking out my DG for fear of "being tricked" as you said. But i am a very paranoid person atm...

But definately keep writing about your experiences with your new friend, i'd love to hear more!

Congrats on finding your DG. It sounds like an awesome experience. I would love to hear about it if you met him again. I also hope to find mine someday but I need more experience before I can do that.
