      muttering demon

last night I had a dream...it was strange..I thought I had just awakened from a dream, and was lying in bed in the dark...and I heard mumbling on the oppisate side of the bed I was facing, I automatically thought 'it's a demon'. it was muttering things and flipping through what I thought was my sketchbook, I couldn't see but that's what it sounded like. it lasted for a couple minutes, and I of course was frozen in fear. finally it stopped. I'm pretty damn sure it was a dream, I dreamt of hearing things? has anyone else had a dream where you only heard things?

so....does this mean I'm the only one that's experienced auditory hypnopompic phenomena?

Usually when I hear or talk to spirits/demons (when they claim they are or when I think) they take a form. It did happen to me that I just heared voice(s). I dont know, I always talk to them, I always did. Talking to them seems better then to get paralyzed of fear, if it has hostile intentions it will get you anyway I think, if it hasnt yet it might be better to talk to it, no matter how scary it is. If its hostile there is not choice but to fight it I gues.. or wake up, if thats possible

the thing is..I didn't know it was a dream until after I woke up..I was paralyzed with fear, but then I got even MORE afraid when I thought it can probably sense my fear..gah..

I once got really freaked in normal life, I swear i could hear one.. they where the same as there.. i was like SHIT. But something inside me told me it was not there, that it couldnt. Then again, mabey they are over here aswell..

I talked to it..talking always takes away the fear, i swear I heared it reply, after a while it left, mabey it senses fear, it feeds of it, and if your not afraid of it , it has nothing to get.

Even if it wasnt there, talking is a good way to confront your fears..

A lot of times right when I'm falling asleep I'll hear really loud noises that i know can't possibly exist. Like things smashing, car horns beeping, stuff being dropped. The worst is sometimes i hear like a scream or a yell that starts in one ear and through to the other, but really fast...less than a second.

      Edit

I should probably add that i'm not concious (sp) when this happens and it wakes me up.

I think those are just hypnotic sounds, it happens right before you go to sleep, and when you are attempting WILD. When I do WILD i also hear a high noice trough my ears, like ultra sound, but high enough to hear. It hurts my ears

Yeah its something like that i guess (except i haven't attempted wild (nor do i know how)...or have yet to lucid dream intentionally), I guess it happens most when im just really thinking things out in my head as im falling asleep. Also my girlfriend say right when i fall asleep i jump. :yumdumdoodledum:

I hear things all the time. But then again, there is a ghost in my house.

People frequently report feeling a "presence" that is often described as malevolent, threatening, or evil. An intense sense of dread and terror is very common. The presence is likely to be vaguely felt or sensed just out of sight but thought to be watching or monitoring, often with intense interest, sometimes standing by, or sitting on, the bed.

People also report auditory, visual, proprioceptive, and tactile hallucinations, as well as floating sensations and out-of-body experiences.

an interesting link paperdoll, a good read if not somewhat esoteric. Has anyone ever experienced "sleep starts?" the sudden involantary jerking of leg or arm muscles which startles you awake during the onset of the hypnagogic stage? I have had one every now and then. The casue seems to be completely unknown amongst the "experts", it may be related to anxiety and panic attaccks which i am also not entirely unfamiliar with...

it was as I was waking up, hence the word hypnopompic.

I don't think it was sleep paralysis...but I never even tried to move so I'm not sure...

I've had things like that before. Sort of. It, whatever it is, talks to me, and I answer back, but I'm not sure if it's lucid dreaming or if it's that I'm actually semi-conscious. Whatever it is, I'm easily awakened from that point. But then when I "wake up", or whatever it is, I'm confused and have to think if I just said whatever it was out loud. But I know I heard it.
Not exactly what you're talking about, but kind of close, I think. I don't think it's ever gone through my things before, I think it just talks to me. Heh.

Sleep starts eh, yeah it must be something like that. No one ever talks to me though, it'll just be a loud noise such as a scream, pop, smash...just something loud. And with regards to mannequin skywalkers post, those jumps happen to me as well right after i fall asleep i will dream something where i have to jump and i act it out in the real world.

I had it where I swear I was awake, and my head felt glued to my bed. I was on the top bunk and I couldn't move at all. Then all of a sudden I felt like I had a chainsaw stuck in my brain, I began to vibrate violently and this chainsaw noise just increased in volume to the point.. it was the loudest thing I've ever heard.

This process repeated itself for about an hour and I really did belive I was going to die I was terrified.

I realised I get sleep paralysis and WILD dreams when I've been up all night, usually drinking caffine and gone to bed, phyiscally drained but mentally hyperactive, therefore the conflict created these effects

Wow, sounds like Jonny has the same stuff happen to him as me. I was up till 3 in the morning, had tons of caffine, and my mind was very hyperactive. When I went to sleep I saw tons of lights and colors. Then my whole body started to uncontrollably shake. This faded then came back 30 minutes later. The noise I heard wasn't a chainsaw, but more like a very high pitch ringing.

      Awake and Lucid

I am going to make a new topic for this....

I have been awake and lucid. The woman from my dream still whispering in my ear. I am awake for sure and in bed... still talking through ESP with this woman.
