I attempted to spin around because I've read that doing so is effective in keeping you in the dream (or changing locations).
Do you mean to say that the bars suddenly appeared and stopped you?
Or that you were already stuck?
If you're not "bolted to the wall" in your next lucid, try "grounding" yourself in your dream (i.e., making it as lucid as it can be).
One of the tricks I use to "ground" myself is to "touch" things. By touching.. I mean really "feeling" them. Get into how they feel.. are they hot, cold, smooth, rough, etc. (this also helps me remain in the dream longer).
Just remember that "the deeper the level of lucidity.. the better your lucid experience should be".
I was walking along and the lucidity hit me. When I walked into a room while trying to stay calm as to keep from waking up, I looked to the right and noticed that there was a metallic thing protruding from the wall that had a firm grip on my arm. I can't remember which happened first (the bar appearing or my attempt to spin), but one seemed to happen as an effect of the other.
You could try a false awakening on purpose. You probably will remember doing this and stay lucid.
That's an interesting idea... I'll tell you if it works.
