I read this passage in EWLD yesterday, and it got me pretty fired up to build my own dream music studio. I really want to use my LDs to help grow my creative side, and inspire me more for my compositional work.Quote:
[In a lucid dream...] It might be possible to build a mental model not of a specific problem, but of a workshop for solving all manner of problems or stimulating creative breakthroughs.
- Stephen LaBerge
I started really thinking about what I would like in this studio, and made mental notes of everything I would like to eventually build and add to it. I expect it to take a number of LD sessions to fully realize what I want before I can use it to its full potential. Last night I had a LD, and began actually building the place, which I'll post about next. I will use this thread to continually update the progress on my studio, if any.
The main room will be a large hexagon with a door on five of the walls. The doors will lead to the following areas:
- "Venues" - Leads to a large concert hall, club stage, or outdoor ampitheatre as I see fit. Here I can rehearse and perform with large groups.
- "Listening Room" - A room with a large library of existing and dream music that can be played on a nice stereo system.
- "Gallery" - A nice modern art gallery that can provide inspiration for me when I want.
- "?" - Opening this door will offer me a random source of inspiration. It could be a famous composer from the past to help me, a bizarre new musical instrument, or a guest band to jam with.
- "Exit" - Takes me to another dream. This is also the door I can use to enter my studio from any door I find in another dream.
The sixth wall will have a large window with a lovely lakeside view.
Here is the list of items I would like in the main room:
- A brand new Bosendorfer concert grand
- Inspirational artwork in the form of sculpture and paintings
- Many nice potted plants and trees
- Sitting room with music stands for small guest ensembles
- A telephone with auto-dialing to call up any performer, conductor, or composer I wish
