      Psychic Lucid Dream?

Fairly recently I had a most interesting lucid dream. I dreamt of my father who died about six months ago. I was back at my parents' home and sitting with him on the sofa when suddenly I said, "but you're dead dad?". Then I realised I must be dreaming and the dream was as vivid as real life. So I said to my dad, "how do I know you are really visiting me in my dream and are not part of the dream itself?" To which he said "ask your mum about the fluffly slippers".

So in real life I told my mother about the dream and she told me that a few months before he died one of my sisters had bought him some slippers which were fluffy inside. He never got a chance to wear them, but when he died my mother gave them to a close friend of theirs. Not earth shattering stuff and it could just be a small co-incidence, but does anyone have any interesting perspective on whether it's possible for our dead loved one's to contact us in our dreams?

first of all, my sinscere condolences. i'm very close to my father and coudn't bear to lose him.

on a lighter note, i'm told psychic dreaming is very possible. in fact, those interested in OBE's and astral projection (sometimes linked with LDing) claim to have met dead relatives in their experiences. i would have loved to have met my grandfather who fought in WW2 but he died when my dad was 18. so if i get good enough at lding you never know.

many fortune tellers and prophets of history have predicted events such as 9/11 and the great fire of london in their sleep. if you're a christian you'll probably know that psychic dreams occur in the bible and i've seen people claiming such things on tv. you might want to call your dad in your next lucid and see if he comes.

I have often thought about trying to contact people who have passed in lucid dreams, but so far, have avoided it as worried about what might actually happen...

It sounds so amazing that you had this experience, how did you feel when you woke up?

There is a theory that when we sleep, we do visit this 'plain' where apparently we all go when we die, only to wait till we are ready to come back to earth as someone else, so by this theory it would also be possible to contact those who have passed.

I have not had an experience like this yet, so will reserve judgement, but it does seem like something pleasing for you to experience. Is there not a chance you could have subconsciously heard about the slippers and not realised it?

Either way it is a nice story, would be interested to know if the same happens again soon

Thanks for your replies, and your condolences Super Duck.

Actually this was not the first lucid dream about my dad, the first one I had fairly soon after he died. I could seem him so clearly, in fact I said to him "let me take a really good look at you in case this is the last time", and it was just so real as if he was there. I never got to see him soon before he died as I live in another country from my family. In fact that is the reason, Adam, that I am sure I never heard the story about the slippers because I am really not often in contact with my family, its just something that would never have been brought up.

I wanted to see if I could have a lucid dream about him last night. I was hoping that I would see him with my little budgie who died last week. I dreamt of my dad and dreamt of lots of budgies including my existing budgie, but I dreamt he forgot to feed them for a couple of days and that my current budgie was dead... not exactly the kind of dream I was aiming for!

And in answer to your question about how I felt when I woke up, I just thought to myself what a strange dream, and I must ask mum about it sometime. Took me several days to actually ask her because I felt a bit strange doing so. It was weird though because she started telling me about the slippers in a very matter of fact sort of way as if my dad had actually asked me to ask her!
