      god DAMN it

      im getting really annoyed here.

i just learned of this other WILD technique where you just dont move a muscle in your body and try to trick it into thinking yorue asleep, so it will eventually sleep.

i havent tried this for too long, no. maybe four or five nights.

but this is total bull shit. ive wasted hours and hours just lying there in total discomfort (not beginning, but it was said that you would start feeling uncomfortable, right before SP)

i lie here still awake, after an hour and a half of lying in complete silence.

what a FUCKING waste of time. does anybody have any suggestions?

or was i just fucking born not to WILD.

(sorry. im really pissed off right now. im wasting time here trying to ld and its not working!)

I have trouble inducing WILDs via techniques on this website too. Things that are designed to keep me awake until I fall into REM sleep, IF I don't lose focus on them, just keep me from falling into REM sleep, period, if not from falling asleep at all.

I would suggest you not try one of those techniques for more than 2 1/2 hours at a time. But if you do try it, remember, you just spent all that time thinking about lucid dreams. And you're probably REALLY tired. That means it's a great time to do a WBTB.

I just had a WILD this morning off of a failed FILD followed by a WBTB incubation session. See, I can only WILD if I feel falling, tingling, or moving sensations as I'm asleep and enter REM within a few minutes of going to bed. That's what happened to me after 3 hours of REM deprivation while not getting too awake to go back to sleep again: first I felt moving sensations as part of a hypnagogic dreamlet, then it hit me that those might be sleep paralysis onset sensations, and then I "let go," felt the tingling, and was soon dreaming. I'm wondering if I might be able to turn failed WILDing into a WILD technique in itself. I just posted on this elsewhere.

And then, there are always DILDs. They're kind of random, but thinking a lot about LDing, high motivation, and being familiar with the concepts and mechanics of reality checks and dreamsign recognition can help increase your chances of them, as can doing a short WBTB toward the end of your morning with only an hour or two left of normal sleep time.

No dream goals at the moment...just flying and letting stuff happen is kinda fun, and it's hard to motivate myself to try LDing lately.

Firstly, do you sleep a few hours before attempting a WILD? Please say yes.

Step 1: Try a different WILD technique. I recommend Clairity's because it's easy to understand and amusing as well, but look around at them all.

Step 2: Try a technique other than WILD altogether if that doesn't work. WBTB + MILD seems to be very popular.

      Step 3: Have lucid dream.

      well, yes and no.

i try at all possible times, last night (when posted) i was trying as i was going to bed at night, but i also have alarms set to wake me up to try.

problem with that is, its way too bright out for me to be able to fall asleep once woken up, along with the fact that i have to get up to piss, which when done, completely ruins any chance of falling back asleep.

now you might say to set the alarms earlier in more of a rem period, but THAT problem is that for some reason i never wake up when the alarm goes off. i have 5 alarms, 4 of them set for wild attempts, and 1 to wake me up for good. 2 of those 4 go off when its dark and i never wake up. the other 2 go off when its lighter out and i cant get back to bed

i think im just going to give up on wilds. its not my thing.

ive had ld's before and all of which were from DILDS. so i think thats my calling. just gotta increase my motivation again, for ive had a long dry spell

First off, WILDs don't just require you to completely relax every muscle in your body, although this is extremely important. The second step you have to take is to relax your mind. You have to be in the state that is in between sleeping and waking.

As for how you do it.. well, first off, relaxing your body doesn't mean that you don't move, there is more to it then that. I would suggest you try some tensing and relaxing techniques to relax your body. Tense every muscle in your body for ten seconds or so (and I mean every muscle, including all of your face and neck), and then release the tension. Do this a couple times. After you do this, I would mentally go over all of the muscle areas in your body to make sure they are as relaxed as they can get. I wouldn't move around much at all, as it can easily make you tense your muscles. You'll know when you have successfully relaxed all of your muscles. After you succeed in doing this, it is time to relax your mind and enter a trance. For a start, after you have completely relaxed your body, begin to passively observe your breathing. Try to keep all other thoughts out of your head except for your attention to your breathing. When you enter a light trance you will know. There will be noticeable shift in consciousness, and you'll begin to feel heavier and mentally you will feel much more at peace and relaxed. I don't have much experience with WILDs, but I do have experience with astral projection, and would assume you have to be in a similar state to induce a WILD, which is a medium to heavy trance. After you have reached a light trance there are a couple of things you can do to bring yourself deeper into a trance. First off, you can simulate a falling or moving sensation in your mind, which will bring you deeper into a trance. Something else you can do, which makes it easier to slip completely into sleep if your not careful, is to just let your thoughts flow freely. The trick is, you don't want to pay any attention to them, or your mind will quickly begin to wonder off and you will fall asleep. You want to just passively let your thoughts flow by, not paying in attention to a particular one.

When you enter a deeper trance you will know. Personally I get a very noticeable feeling of warmth and begin to loose sense of where I am laying down. You will feel significantly altered. When you are doing trance work like this it is important to always keep a clear mind and don't wonder off, because its extremely easy to fall asleep. If you succeed in entering a deep trance, you may notice that images begin appear in your vision. This is known as hypnotic imagery. Once this begins to happen you are in the preferable state to enter a WILD. Once again, I don't have much experience with WILDs, but from what I've read you should begin to imagine you are in a certain environment. You want to visualize yourself being there as realistic as possible, visualizing as vividly as possible not only the visual aspect of the environment, but also visualizing all of the other sensory aspects (sound, feeling, taste, smell) of the environment as well. If you do this right you should slip into the environment completely conscious of the fact that your dreaming.
"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed."

"We're so engaged in doing things to achieve purposes of outer value that we forget the inner value, the rapture that is associated with being alive, is what it is all about."

"He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would fully suffice. This disgrace to civilisation should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, senseless brutality, deplorable love-of-country stance, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be part of so base an action! It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder."

what you have just written to me, is basically right out of the WILDing chapter in the book "exploring the world of lucid dreaming" by stephen laberge.

ive read through it twice. although i do understand what youre saying. i dont usually try the relaxing point technique becuase of the discomfort of all the tension.

i will give it a shot tonight though. this is my last hope, because if it werent for the reminder from you, i'd be moving on to another induction technique
