We assume you get afraid during sleep paralysis because you are *trapped*. It's basically like being in a half-asleep half-awake state. The snap in your brain might be synaptic firing, basically your brain snapping back into awareness. |

"With time may you notice mild vibrations and that your body becomes paralyzed. At that point will you notice that you no longer have any problem concentrating, everything becomes clear. " |

Thanks for your input man...it definitely could be a feeling of being trapped and almost a feeling of being vulnerable as my body is totally paralyzed...it's really weird...i would like as much feedback on this as possible...especially from any people out there with "alot" of experience with these types of things....i'm very interested and excited about lucid dreaming....as i've had a few in the past...it's great to be able to control your dreams... But i'm alot more concerned about resolving the unknown state of being...that i described above...this is not a lucid dream...it's not a dream at all...i don't know what the hell it is? |

You can probably go directly into a WILD from this. At least that's what I understand. Some would say you can OBE directly from this state aswell. It probably just scares you because you feel vulnerable, so being able to have some fun through WILD should get rid of this fear. To WILD from this state you probably just have to will yourself to shift into a dream with full lucidity. My understanding is that WILD is alot cooler than DILD. |

Does this happen when you willingly make it happen before going to sleep, or can you, like now, think about it and make it happen? |

If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...
Thank you for your patient and mature response. There has been evidence suggesting that sleep paralysis can be a precursor to so called "out of body experiences..." and yes i can make it happen at will...i was just really afraid to...cause it "hurts" kinda...and it's scarey...especially if you don't know anything about it. I made a mistake and posted in "general discussion" as well...i found a detailed case study on the subject and posted a little peice of it for anyone else that may need help understanding this.... |

Don't worry, we're here to help. All the advice I can give is that you learn as much as possible about it, in order to loose this unnatural fear you have towards it. It is a fact we fear what we don't know, and, after you learn more about it, you we see there is no reason to fear it... |

I can make myself go paralyzed when I'm sleeping, by realizing im dreaming... but I never have an OBE... It does scare me, I feel like I'm dying or something. |
