I can read in a LD
I haven't sat down and researched this but from what I have heard over the years about lucid dreaming is that you can't read in a dream. Reading is controlled by one side of the brain and dreaming by the other and supposably the two don't mix during a dream.
I have been having LD's for years, mostly unintentionally, but recently, I have been trying. Anyway, one night, I realized I was dreaming and thought about what I heard that people can't read in dreams. I tried it and it worked. I was only able to read two or three word phrases (they were on billboards along a road) but I did read and I was aware of the fact that I wasn't supposed to be able to read at the time.
There must be an exception to the rule because I have broken it. If anyone has done this too or can explain why I am able to read phrases in my dream, feel free to let me know.

I too have read short signs or phrases but when it comes to long text/sentences.. it just doesn't work for me.
Maybe the amount of text you're trying to read makes the difference?

It is possible to read in LDs; I have read sample pages out of books, but the idea is to focus single-mindedly on what you are doing. If your mind wavers or you look even slightly away from the words they will change shape and no longer make sense; this is why simple phrases are easier; you can see them like a picture. You literally write the pages as you read them; this is why calling it "reading" is a stretch. It can be done, but is not worth all that much for the focus you need to really read anything of value; it is easier just to ask the dream or DCs questions if it is info you desire from the subconscious.

ive only ever read short signs in dreams (although I haven't actually tried to read anything longer than a few words) like last night when I read a sign at a train station that said "BAF" and im like "wtf? I must be dreaming!" Then I read it again and it said "Now Playing: (3 word name of some elevator music)" and I thought "oh, I musn't be dreaming any more" :bang:

I've read phrases and even emails flawlessly in dreams. I think for the most part, there shouldn't be any reason why you can't.
They way I look at it, is that as we use the same 'software' when dreaming as we are awake, things in the waking world should not be impossible!
