My unique case.
2 days ago I had no idea what a Lucid Dream was.
I was having an afternoon sleep. I was woken by my phone ringing but then when back to sleep immediately.
In my dream I just somehow knew I was dreaming. I don’t know how, no apparent signs or reality checks. I just knew it.
I went on to control the dream and do many things I would never have done in a normal dream. Because I knew I had none of the parameters of ‘real life’ holding me back…eg. I was invincible.
I then decided that I wanted to wake up, and did so, with a tiny bit of difficulty.
Prior to this experience I have only ever realised I was dreaming when I felt I was going to be late for a meeting etc. And therefore I have just worked on waking myself up.
It had never occurred to me that I could control my dream. Just imagine the feeling I had when I awoke…. “What the hell was that!?!” – Then I googled ‘controlling dreams’ (fearing I was a freak) only to find this amazing site.
How come I had so much control in my first Lucid Dream? Not even knowing what it was?
How can I have one again? Like my first one, where I needed no reality checks etc??
Thanks in advance.

Allow me to sincerely suggest that you build up your recall at this point, so that you may remember all of your adventures. Not only this, but if you are already able to become aware in dreams without any special techniques, just do it that way, makes things simpler. Why I say this is because once you begin reading posts about different techniques, then comes opinions, which I agree have held me back quite a bit. Opinions are like negative placebo's, everyones got one. <- Had to say it. The other reason is because if your able to already realize your dreaming, enjoy that method if it is most sufficient. I am not telling you NOT to, that is your choice. All of my post was a mere suggestion, nothing more.
