      My First WILD

Previously, I have made it to the transition state of WILD, but I have never been able to get through the barrier. Last night however, waking up at 5am and staying awake for about 20 minutes, I then went back to bed and found a comfortable position (laying straight on your back is not necessary for WILD). My mind drifted, random imagery appeared. I made sure that I knew it was dream imagery but I also payed attention to it. Suddenly, my body started buzzing and vibrating. I even experienced my face contorting at one point. I knew this was supposed to happen so I kept relaxing and letting my mind drift farther and farther. I could see an image of my bed that I was laying in, but it wasn't the real bed, I knew it was dream imagery. I tried to pull myself through, but I failed several times. I was still transitioning, and eventually I was able to pull myself in to the dream. I was lucid, but not very lucid. I could barely move my body and I had little control over the setting or objects. The dream was actually taking place in my room as well. This also caused to me to have several false awakenings, in which I felt myself fall through the bed, but ended up back in my bed, thinking I had woken up. The clarity of my dream was very low, so this allowed random things to happen, such as getting text messages and having my phone with me all of a sudden. The words on the text message made sense at first, but then I realized the letters were scrambled and meaningless at a second glance. This is how I knew my awakening was false. I also had the strange phenomena of only being able to view the dream from one eye for a period of time (my right eye seemed to be closed shut, I have experienced blindness in other dreams as well).

Overall though, I had experienced WILD transitions several times during that night including the false awakenings, although my memory is fragmented so I am not sure as how often it actually happened. This was actually my first successful WILD, I had come close to a WILD previously but failed, as I had mentioned earlier. However, the clarity and lucidity of my dreams were very low, and I am looking for advice on how to improve situations like these.

Congratulations! Try rubbing your hands together and/or shout "clarity now!" to increase lucidity and clarity. There are lots of other tips available on the forums.
