      False Memories In Lucids

Just wondering if anyone else has had this. I had a dream that I was taking part in an interview, but it wasn't the first time I'd been there, but it was the first time I've remembered dreaming about this place. I knew the place, I knew the staff (well enough to ask favours) but when I woke up, I knew I didn't know those people, or that place. I'm guessing these false memories came from dreams I've forgotten or just didn't remember in the first place, but has anyone else had anything like this?

Yes, this kind of stuff happens a lot to me. I don't think it was from a past dream, I think your subconcious puts false memories into your concious mind.

It will be necropost but whatever.

If you will start to memorize what places you visit in regular dreams, you will find that a lot of them you are visiting regular, that's why you remembered about it.

Not much of "false" considering I always had good recall, so just the normal "Oh I has been in this dream/scenario before"

      I've always wondered this.
In LDs I get the sense that I've had the exact dream before.
I always wonder if I'm making it up or not....

      I think, though,
It could be a mix of both.

perhaps since dreams also seems to be made up of a lot of memories,
It could be that you've been in a similar place in the real world before,
& that triggered the feeling of familiarity...

      Or maybe not )=
Or perhaps, you were in the dream a long time ago and just forgot it.
I've done that before. Then like a week later, remember when I had the similar dream.

Yes, seems to happen to me a lot, usually a DC will remind me of something I was supposed to do and I will remember them telling me about it a day before. This happens more often than not. (I am very forgetful in real life which is probably why it's a common theme in my dreams)

Ya I had something like this not to long ago, where I had to type in a number code on a door to go through it, I rememberd the code in my dream but when I woke up I had no such memory of ever remembering such a thing in the past.

Yeah. In lucids, they're usually just things that pop into my mind, as though someone is telloing me this via a brain-implant 2-way radio, but in nonlucids I usually just know things already, don't even think about them. (It's actually one of my dream signs, knowing things I hadn't before. Difficult when I remember having known things for as liong as I can rremember.)

I find it nice sometimes, but it can be really grief-inducing when something happens woth a really significant backstory, or occasionally when I wake up, and someone or something in the dream was really important to my dream self's past self of that dream.

That happens to me too, in both lucids and non-lucids. Once I dreamed that I remembered being able to do telekinesis when I was little and causing trouble by throwing things around in my Mom's car. But that couldn't have been right, since she never even had that car when I was little. That, and I didn't have telekinesis.

I think sometimes the brain just accidentally labels a thought as a memory, or you're just remembering forgotten dreams.

Sounds like a reoccurring and or continued dream to me.

It's a normal thing to have altered memories. Happened to me very often. Sometimes it's more fun with different memories.

The brain is using false memories and transitions pretty often, usually to skip unimportant tasks. Sometimes it gives the "I've had a dream that lasted a few hours!!11" feel
