Big success on first try - thanks everyone!

This is my first post here, so I'll introduce myself briefly. I've had lucid dreams since my teen years, but only 3 or 4 a year at most. I came up with my own "reality check" method as a teen, thinking the word "hamburger" and seeing if someone would spontaneously say it. If they did, I was dreaming. Over 30 years later, this is still the word that comes to my mind if I want to know whether I'm dreaming.

Having read through a lot of the posts here for the last few days, I got the chance to use my reality check twice in one night last night. Before retiring, I had a 1/4 cup of very strong chamomile tea, which has always increased my odds of specifically sexual dreams, and about 100 mg of alpha GPC choline. I set my alarm for 5 hours of sleep. When the alarm went off, I got up and drank a premixed drink with small doses of l-glutamine (about 1 gram) and l-theanine (about 30 mg) in distilled water, and lay down immediately, because I had a feeling it would take me at least 45 minutes to get back to sleep, which turned out to be true. I also used earplugs and an eyeshade to keep ambient noise and light from waking me up.

Watching for lights with my eyes closed, I was lucid dreaming before I knew it. I blanked out on the transition, but when the dream started, I could tell I was dreaming because two people turned into mice! That dream lasted for a few minutes at the most, when I noticed my "other" body breathing in bed. I was semi-conscious for a few minutes, conscious enough to remember to look for lights again, and very quickly I was in another dream. I made somebody say hamburger, and was immediately running down a hallway in my high school looking for cute DCs to collide with. This dream lasted a bit longer, but this time an orgasm woke me up. I won't complain.

Anyway, it had been several months since my previous LD (all of those before last night had been either natural or precipitated by sub-milligram doses of 5-htp or melatonin at bedtime) so I would say that l-glutamine, l-theanine and alpha GPC choline is a winning combo for me. I take very small quantities of everything because my brain chemistry is really sensitive to neurortransmitter precursors. Can't wait to try galantamine + choline bitartrate!

Thanks everyone for all the information here! I'm convinced that the many clues here led to an immediate success. I know I didn't follow every suggestion here exactly to the letter, but I followed my intuition, and it worked for me.

      All righty, pleasant dreams!

Good job getting the LDs and welcome to Dreamviews! It seems like you know a lot about LDing already. Good luck.

Great success story. You're probably a natural because it sounds like you have a fair amount of dream control too. Becoming lucid is only half the battle when you're trying to have a specific dream.

      Keep up the good work!
When all of your wishes are granted, many of your dreams will be destroyed.

The mostly supportive atmosphere here is wonderful. Thank you to those who were encouraging!

I offer what has worked for me, and some will conduct their own experiments with an open-minded spirit of scientific investigation in order to increase their personal knowlege.

Everyone's brain chemistry is a little bit different, which is demonstrated not only in their individual results, but also in their attitudes.

      Pleasant dreams!
