Dreamt I was Lucid?

I was wondering if anyone had had this experience. I dreamed (twice) that I was lucid. I know that this isn't what a true lucid dream because I have had a few lucid dreams that made the two seemingly "lucid" dreams invalid. I really do not think that it was just a low level lucidity issue but more that after all my drifting off to sleep affirmations, my mind tricked me by creating a lucid dream (dream). Confusing, I know. This is a has been on my mind for a while now because I am not sure what to think of it. Can you dream of having a lucid dream, or am I mistaking this for something else?

Artemesia I know exactly what you're talking about. More than a few times I thought I was lucid but something told me I was only dreaming it. It didn't seem real. It seemed fuzzy and disconected. It doesn't have the sudden realization and clarity, where you can look around and say, okay I'm lucid, lets tear this shit up! I know it sucks, but sometimes you can have a non-lucid dream about being lucid.

I've had one of those once... I asked Adam about it, and he assured me it was a lucid :P Well if now it turns out it wasn't, congratulations, then I've never ever had a lucid! :D (Excluding one about 10 years ago)

You are lucid if you know its a dream...There's no beyond that. However that doesn't mean you were lucid for the entire dream.

People seem to confuse lucidity with the entire dream being lucid, but nope, you can be lucid one moment and then no lucid the next.

So you weren't dreaming of being lucid, you were lucid, and at some point or another you lost lucidity (maybe as soon as you became lucid) but remember thinking it was a dream.

This happens to me lots of times, fortunately I still act the same way as if it were a lucid dream, the only difference is I invest more importance in what happens (I.E. I know I can fly, only i'm afraid of hitting the ground =P)

Well this has not happened to me, but I've heard of it before.

I have dreamed about Lucid Dreaming and not gotten Lucid before though.

Did you actually know you were dreaming in this dream? If so, you must have had some form of Lucidity.

I've had one or two of these types of dreams, and apparently so did Frederik van Eeden (the originator of the term "lucid dream"). Through Google I found a place where he said

Okay, but comparing dreams to a Matrix like environment: there are bound to be people in a large enough simulated reality that would believe that the world around them wasn't "real" (like in our world) but they would have no consciousness of the actual real world, maybe even if they had been born in it (or if they did, it may be imaginary or a false memory). Would these people be considered "lucid" or not? And if not, couldn't these conditions be carried over to a dream to create a false lucidity?

I once had a dream of doing the rollover technique(where you roll out of SP). I then did an RC but it was all part of the dream and the dream told me I wasn't in a dream.

It comes down to what I said before.

You can't classify things into the narrow field of

Lucid or not lucid

There is a HUGE range in between there, and if you fall into the range that is not "not lucid" then you can be called lucid, though you are not COMPLETELY lucid. Pardon the capitals I was too lazy to make bolds or italicized.

Yea I've had one. I dreamt I was in a lucid dream, but didn't realize that I was actually in a dream. It wasn't low level lucidity, but just another dream. Just like how you could say that you had a dream that you were an astronaut, or could breath underwater, and never realized it was a dream. It really is hard to describe the state to people who haven't experienced it, but yes, it happens.

I've had two of these dreams. I was confused whether or not to count it as lucid. I thought it was just a lower level. My dreams were that I realized I was dreaming but it seemed like that was part of the plan. It wasn't like I realized it for myself it just seemed like it was part of the dream. So I guess it was non-lucid. I just had a lucid dream last night, so I don't think those count.

I've only had them when after having frequent LDs, and they really seemed like LDs. Although the memories of them are not like memories of real LDs.
