      First LD!

Last night was my first LD!

It didn't last all that long, probably all of about 10 seconds. But still!

I was in a kitchen, looked down at my hands, then did an RC. As soon as i realized i was dreaming my heart skipped a beat. I didn't really get much done, i was just observing things and looking around and then i think i woke up. But this means some of the techniques are starting to work =D

I've been trying for about a week, though last night i took 100mg of B6 before going to bed. Can't really tell whether that helped or was just coincidental.

Any general tips on which strategies are best for lengthening LD's?

      Thanks

Hey! Great, you had your first lucid dream, this is good! And congratulations, you seem to have some nice experience too.

Now, onto your question. Keep a Dream Journal, do you do that? Dream Journals help you increase the length of how well you rememer your dreams, you can take a look at some online dream journals here: Click here (click the link in my signature to take a look at mine, mine's ace)

I've heard doing the WBTB method of lucid dreaming (click here) also increases recall. I've never really properly done WBTB with a successful lucid dream or at least a dream in general. But I've read it increases recall. (Robot_Butler if you're reading this, just know I read that from you!)

By the way if you're interested, the link to the tutorials section is here:

      Hey thanks for the reply

I can remember 2 dreams from last night, with one of them being that lucid one i described, and I think this happened as the second last dream, and that's why i can't remember it all that well. The main bit is where i felt my heart almost jump out of my chest when i realised i was lucid =D

Ive got a notebook that i write keywords down on in the morning mostly, but I think ill start an online one, that way I'll actually be bothered to write it all down.

Well, getting too excited most of the time kills lucidity, although it's very hard NOT to be excited the first time you have a lucid dream!! I don't remember my first lucid dream very well anymore, but it didn't last very long too due to this very reason!

I don't know how blurry your lucid dream was, but increasing lucidity is a great way to increase its duration! You could rub your hands to do that or say out loud: "Increase lucidity a 1000 times!" That's usually my technique of getting more bright lucid dreams!! When your lucid dream starts to really fade I think it's best to spin around though!!

Furthermore, it's a good thing to have a list next to your bed with things you want to undertake when being lucid or at least have an idea of what to do. I've got a list next to my bed and I look into it every time I go to sleep. I've written ways to stay lucid on it, places I want to visit, things I want to undertake, etcetera. This way you both increase the chance of becoming lucid and increasing 'productivity' when lucid and therefore strengthening your lucid dream.. it's a shame when you are finally lucid and you know nothing to do: I had that many times!

      Good luck!
