My First LD
I'm actually not 100% sure if it was a DILD, or a WILD. Anyway, I woke up and decided I wanted to attempt a WILD. This was probably a false awakening, I'm not sure. After some time I open my eyes and am still in my bed, but I realize that I'm dreaming. At this point I feel like I'm starting to lose the dream, so I attempt a spin to get things back under control.
Many guides recommend spinning when you're losing control of a dream, they don't mention how fun it can be. To be lying in bed, and suddenly do a complete vertical flip, quite fun.
After that, I really knew I was dreaming, also helped by the fact that after the flip R2D2's bowl-like head was now resting on my chest. I stood out of bed, walked around a bit, and occasionally spun due to excitement at what seemed like an impressive feat. At this point I decide I want to try flying, and suddenly i'm in space, looking down at the world. It's not a very good world... mostly clouds since I guess my subconscious isn't great at geography. I fly (it was more like fast floating) down towards it and once I break through the clouds I appear back in my bed...
...back in my bed with R2 still on my chest. That done, I decide to see if my sense of touch works. I pick R2's head up, it feels metallic, but not cold. I set it back down and can feel where the edges of the Hollow dome rest on my chest. I then conjured a woman (R2 disappeared), and we made out for a while, then I woke up for real.
Overall, a pretty good dream. At times though, I had limited control (changing location, etc), and some images seemed kind of see through.
Things I'd like to try next
- walking, running around in different scenery then my room
- talking to someone in my dream

Wow. Congrats. Thats an impressively awesome first lucid. I like how you had to chose to use your sense of touch. The most ordinary things can be so cool in a LD.
Its almost like you had a dream within a dream too. I think R2 is trying to keep you lucid.

I can't recall ever having a sense of touch in dreams, always just vision and possibly hearing. The fact that you can reach out and touch something in a dream, it somehow makes it more substantial, more real.
It seems natural that you can teleport around, or do the impossible in a dream, but what really stuck with me was that I could grab something, feel that it was "real", and have the choice to place it wherever I want.
So, does it get easier to realize you're in a dream after having your first lucid experience?

That is an awesome first LD, congrats on that! And yes, LD's do some easier after your first but it takes work and practice. I still need quite a bit of work, but I'm slowly getting there.
