Can you lose your lucid...ness?

When I was about 14 I had a nightmare about a certain species? of man which were always in my dreams since I was 4, anywho they were chasing me through these ruins, and then the scene changed to an old hospital wing one that looked like it had been part of a sunken ship (greenish, with growth) and I turned around, had my epiphany, said some swears and tore the closer man to me in half, followed by his friend who was now running in fear I easily broke his neck and pulled his head clean off. Anyways I haven't had any control filled dreams recently I have come close, and I have started to forget my dreams, so I was just wondering if you could lose the ability. And if so can you regain it easily or whatever.

Certain tribes specific to South america talk about a kind of humanoid hallucination produced by certain plants. The entities are predatory, sometimes almost reptilian, other times more human-beast, but they tend to slaughter dreamers and trippers alike. Usually the setting is jungle, ruins, things like that.

This hallucination is traced to the chemical Dyphenhydramine, common in allergy medicine and motion sickness medicine.

I don't know if this is a far off guess or semi-helpful, but I took the stuff and stopped dreaming for a week save for wierd visages like this. I was also given benedryl as a child giving me vivid violent dreams (reacurring night terrors actually) of senarios like yours, creatures I can't entirely explain.

I think you can regain your lucidity maybe by change in diet, and of course through meditation. If you are an allergy sufferer, that may be a reason, it was for me.
