My first LD... (Some what funny...)

I was not even trying to have an LD... A few days back I had started a Dream Journal but I had been busy recently so I decided I would take a break and start back later when I had time...

On June 10, 2008 I had a dream... I had recently joined marching band at my school so I dreamed that I was at school practicing a drill... I then think to myself, "I'm not suppose to be here today..." I then decide to perform a reality chech. I usually do something like trying to poke my finger through my hand or breathing while pinching my nose but I guess I must have been so certain that I was dreaming that I decided to try and levitate. I was about to levitate myself but then I thought, maybe I should try a less extreme reality check so I don't shock myself. It was too late though, I was jerked into the air and I had barely even thought of trying to levitate (this amazed me since I thought it would have been much harder to do something like that during a first experience LD)... But the dream did not last long because the shock from being jerked into the air woke me...

I'm still happy and I thought it was funny so I guess it was worth it... :P

EDIT:
I think my subconcious mind has a sense of humour...

Haha, that's awesome. I've read a couple of instances where people have been so shocked that they were actually LDing, flying or other first time things that they came out of the LD. XP

I think you'll do great.

Thanks!

But it was a very surprising feeling. It was like I was being yanked up by my belt so I was there dangling. I was so shocked I reached out with my hands trying to grab onto the ground. It was weird even though I knew it was a dream.

I bet! I still remember when I used to dream about flying when I was little. I really want to get that feeling back, it was awesome... Though now I don't have my really young age and complete naivety to keep me from freaking out. And of course I didn't think about it then - I have no doubt I'll overthink everything when I do LD now. :P

I just started reading Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming and realized the first example dream on page one starts like this:

"I realized I was dreaming. I raised my arms and began to rise (actually, I was being lifted)."

So the feeling of being pulled/lifted/yanked might be a common one! It's really interesting.
