very dissapointing WILD, but still successful.

i've been WILDing right when i go to bed for a while now, as well as WBTB WILDing when i wake up. ive been successful before sleep and after sleep multiple times, but this experience i had last night was cruel..

alright. so i was laying on my back when first attempting to WILD, and after about 10 min i felt SP and the super rapid-beating heart feeling, and i was also hearing weird things as usual (hearing things (auditory hypnogogia) is much more common for me vs. visual hypnogogic imagery) but i felt uncomfortable after a while since i could feel my blankets being kinda messed up (even in SP i could feel it) so i rolled on my side, and put a pillow between my legs, and one between my arms and i took off my blankets all the way. (its hot in my room) i was pretty comfortable, so i didnt move from there. i WASNT trying to WILD anylonger. just tryin to sleep. all of a sudden, without feeling any sensations similar to the ones i felt moments ago, i was standing in my kitchen. it seemed normal as usual. i thought to myself-- how the hell did that just happen. im lucid, and i wasnt even trying to WILD... so i walk over to my family room and decided id focus on gaining lucidity. i floated into a comfortable position, like i was reclined on a couch, and closed my eyes and thought of what was going on. i thought of my RL body sleeping in bed, and how i was dreaming and i was just trying to gain more lucidity. when i opened my eyes, i was back in my bed in the same position. =[ =[ =[

i know most people say that when you WILD as u first go to bed, the dreams are usually less vivid and short. but i mean, this was REALLY REALLY short and much shorter than my usual successful WILDs.

i just came to the conclusion when i started surfin the web that maybe that was a false awakening? it was just a weird experience for me and id like some feedback on what u guys think... thanks for ur time readin this btw. lol

Sounds very much like a FA, though its very hard to tell after its happened if you didnt test it during. Definitely start doing RCs every time you wake up I know sometimes you will just want to slack off and roll over and go to bed.. but not only will you experience more FA's, you will also subconsciously become accustomed to being aware in your most hazy state of mind. This is very important.

closed my eyes and thought of what was going on. i thought of my RL body sleeping in bed, and how i was dreaming and i was just trying to gain more lucidity.
I think thats where you took the wrong turn. Take this information with a grain of salt, because everyone is different.. But I actually just mentioned this in another post of mine.

Im sure everyone can agree that very commonly in nightmare whatever you dont want to happen, does. This applies both ways to alot of regular dreams to, you just think "Oh I wonder where my friend Jim-bob is".. before you know it you open a door or go around a corner and you see him in a crowd.

I think we are very vulnerable to subconscious input while dreaming, and usually when the thought of laying in bed dreaming enters my mind.. it takes over all of my sensations. For example if I was snowboarding down a mountain I would lose the feeling of my feet clamped to the board, and very suddenly 'feel' like I'm laying in bed (Blankets, pillow, laying on back).. This is almost always followed by a loss of any auditory/visual from the previous scene. (Usually not eating, and I cant smell in dreams, dont know why.) It really does just feel like you wake up. I have plenty that just happen as I naturally slip out of a dream as well, but I can say for sure I've 'induced' a few FA's. In reality they are all just dreams, FA's can happen at any time.. not 'before or after' a dream.

I mean you really just have to think about it.

How convinced were you that you were standing in the kitchen? I know you realize you were dreaming, but I mean if you didnt know about lucid dreaming, would you know the difference? How hard would it be to switch that scene to your bed.. neither of them exist. If you can dream that you are atop Everest having a picnic with batman or whatever, Im sure you can dream you were laying in bed.. especially when you are focusing on it. Reality Checks = win, just dont do anything crazy that will wake you completely up if you are really waking up. (Unless you want to get up, DEILD's/WILD's are great during this time if you can remain half asleep)

I try to never close my eyes once lucid dreaming, I try to stay alert and awake within the dream. Try not to relax so much, just be more aware of whats going on. I find that helps me stay stay lucid.

I'm new, so no one hate on me if this is bad information. With my experiances, I seem to do better by NOT closing my eyes and relaxing.
Although I can't wait to try the spinning technique I've read about, I'm just not going to close my eyes when I do it.
Sorry I was a little off topic there.
