Exclamation waking upin a dream & thinking it is real : How to get out of it ?!

      Hi everyone!!

Last time i have been making loads of researches about false awakens and i was thinking:" such things will never happen to me! "

      but...

During the next night, i was dreaming about being in my house talking with the people of my family. It’s morning. i go down stairs. Have my breakfast. Go to school, everything is just perfect.
Then during class (in the dream) i somehow noticed i was dreaming so i said: «Man that dream is boring, i should rather wake up"
Then i immediately find myself lying on my bed, i look around me and i say:" i guess i'm awake right know, but i'll have to do everything once again." I go brush my teeths, take a shower, go downstairs, have my breakfast, go to school...
Class, once again i say:" something’s not right...Oh no, dreaming again, i hope i'll wake up this time"

Once again, it’s morning, i wake up go to the bathroom and notice that the shower is broken, so i call my brother for him to repair it. He calls some of his friends to help him. I thought: " That's gotta be real, showers never break in dreams. " (Don’t ask me, i don't know why i said such a stupid thing: P). Some minutes later I’m watching my brother repairing the shower, he repaired it with magic, but I found it normal (once again, don’t ask me…). Then, once again, I felt like something was not right and found out I was dreaming.

I wake up in my room, once again, but it was in the middle of the night this time. I stood up and thought that I had to find out whether I was dreaming or not. I went to the bathroom to see if it wasn’t broken this time (if it was, it would mean that i’m dreaming), i open the door and i see a human-shaped transparent being looking at itself in the mirror (?!),I understood that i was dreaming, but i didn’t know what to do to get out of it. Normally, when you find out that you’re dreaming and want to wake up, you wake up immediately, well i was literally stuck in that dream. So i just screamed VERY hard, wishing to get out until i woke up.

When i woke up for real i didn’t do a RC for some reason, i was totally sure that it was real this time and fortunally , i only experienced this once in my life.

Did any of you have a dream like this (FA's)?
      What was it like ?
How did you manage to get wake up ?

Firstly, I would suggest that, instead of trying to wake up, you take control of the dream and do whatever you want with it. But, that's just me.

If you seriously just want to wake up, you need to become aware of your sleeping body. Try to tune into your waking-world limbs. Close your eyes to a degree where you feel you are actually pressing your waking-world eyes closed tight. Then, pull them open as wide as you can. This is how I've always woken myself up. Don't know if it will work for you or not, but it might.

I once dreamed that I woke and recorded my last dream in my dream journal, this all seemed perfectly real to me. However, I then woke up for a second time (although I don't remember what caused me to wake up) and felt rather dazed and confused until I realised that the first time had been a false awakening.
Like you I thought something like a false awakening would never happen me but I was proved wrong. It was an interesting experience, but at the same time I'm glad it hasn't happened since.

      First post, etc

Hey guys, first time posting here, but I had this exact thing happen to me just the other day. I woke up a total of 4 times before it was real, and each time I thought it was. I don't really know much about lucid dreaming yet, but maybe that's what was going on. I managed to wake up for real by realizing that everything was just too weird to be real. I was like sitting on a couch in my apartment (which doesn't have a couch) with my mom and smoking pot, which would NEVER happen IRL, and then I just snapped out of it and woke up.

Great advice! And it definitely helps out. Sometimes, though, it's hard to take control because of the feeling that you are just not in control. At least in my experience. But, it does help out a lot.

coloredfeeries, I have had FAs like what you have described many times. I don't mind having them once, but when they happen multiple times, it's just annoying. There's really nothing I do, except what Oneironaut mentioned, try and take control of the dream. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

That happens to me all of the time. I will think that I wrote the dream down already, but then I realize that it was a FA.
FA's are always good for a clean lucid pallette though. Especially when I lived in a dorm. Whenever I walked out, there was always something different on the other side.

I routinely perform an RC upon waking, but I very rarely get FAs. Perhaps developing this habit could be a good idea for you.
