Lucid logic - save the lemons!
I had been thinking a lot about the reality of the dreamworld. Is it a real place, in an alternate dimension? Is it a form of astral projection? I explored this idea in my next - rather fanciful - lucid dream.
I am in a room with two wizard-like characters. Although I am not yet lucid, they are explaining to me that I really can fly, if I hit on the right technique. With my foggy dream mind, I try hanging onto a ceiling beam and letting go, hoping to break into flight. No luck. Then I lie on the floor like Superman, arms outstretched and fists clenched. It soon occurs to me how ridiculous this is - why don't I just walk through an outer wall and fly into the sky; that would work!
I do so, and become fairly lucid. I fly in a big arc and realize I am at my old house in England. The sky is bright and sunny. I fly over to a giant lemon tree and examine the fruit. It is like switching on to high definition - I can see every detail of every leaf. I pick two lemons and decide that if I can take them back to the real world, I can prove this dreamworld is somehow real! My logic at the time was compelling.
I fly some more, exploring the houses and fruit trees that somehow exist here but not in the real world. I am spotted by a young girl, who giggles and takes photos of me. "I'm going to tell everyone you can fly!" she shouts. I am not worried. I rationalize that people from the real world (lucid dreamers) can fly here, so I am far from alone. I realize that everyone else is a dream character; trapped in this topsy turvy world of no logic, and yet don't understand how to fly themselves.
I fly through walls into houses, meeting neighbors who are different in this world. They are in awe that they are meeting a person from the real world. I hurry along, explaining that I could wake up at any time and must make the most of my lucid dream.
Still flying, bouncing and hovering with ease, I find a giant peach tree. What if I could take back lemons AND peaches?! I examine them - some are the size of watermelons, while others are shriveled and rotting. I pick some good ones, maneuvering through the air with great skill, ignoring the girl who is still snapping away photos on the ground below.
Then I see another 'real world' person who is doing the same. He is a young man who I don't recognize. We descend to the ground and meet up with two more apparent 'real worlders'; a young woman and an older guy who reminds me of a more down-to-earth Gandalf. Floating into the cafe, I help myself to a big piece of chocolate pie. It tastes amazing; rich and smooth. I show the others; "lucid chocolate!" who each taste some and agree it is delicious.
Finally, we move on and my partner appears. He says we are going to take a trip to the beach. I am ready to move to the next scene but instead I accidentally open my eyes. I see pillows, curtains, daylight. Damn, I am awake! And no lemons to speak of... :)
