Only happened to me once but I was a werewolf kind of half transformed. That was the last time I looked into a mirror while dreaming.
In normal dreams and lucid dreams, my reflection in mirrors are usually a distorted version of myself, ranging from "almost normal" to very strange or creepy: older, long rubbery arms, more or less hair or losing it, or white mucus oozing from the eyes (fortunately, it's never frightening while I'm dreaming, I see those things in a detached and objective way. It's only when I wake up that I say "yuck !")
Once, in a LD, I managed to go trough a mirror. I emerged in a completely black space, standing on a square of light (the mirror)... then I woke up.
a mirror was in my dream the other night because I walked into a bathroom and my hair was longer. that was it. In the dream i knew it was weird that my hair would grow six inches overnight and i didnt get lucid.
i was in some place that had a huge mirror, as i stood in front of it, others stood behid me to stare aswell!!!
they were giving me the tripest fucking looks i ever seen in my life!!! lol!!! there eyes looked as if they were high as a kite
i noticed though, if i manifested emotions while they stared at the mirror with me,
i could see it reflected in them, it was totally wierd but cool!!! when i thought of the sadness in me, i saw it in them, when i thought of crazy hyperactive thoughts, i saw that also. there eyes shone intensely
I've recently had a lucid dream where I had encounterd a mirror for the first time ever in a dream that I can remember. It was extremely blury, looked just like the mirror does after it fogs up from getting out of a warm shower.
I had several dreams where I am in a mall and there are mirrors there. I look in them and find myself different each time. Once I had some skin deformation, another time I had a whole in my stomach and once only once did I look beautiful and my hair color was different. Never have I looked like myself in these mirrors during a LD state. Really annoying that I now look for mirrors on purpose because I feel I have to combat this LD issue.
Mirrors tend to make me lucid. When lucid, mirrors tend to contain physical objects, as if it were a portal to a mirror reality. I see myself in mirrors, and I can pull myself out of them. Sometimes they're portals to random locations, but because of that I don't use them as portals, due to their randomness. Sometimes they're just walls I bump into. Sometimes I smash them. That last part is fun.
I don't seem to like mirrors in dreams. I never look directly at them in nonlucids, and in controlled lucids I never think too look at a mirror. I've seen mirrors out of the corner of my eye, or the edges of mirrors, and I sometimes see the color of my shirt or something.
I have never seen my eyes in a lucid dream.
I decided to take a look in my bathroom mirror in a lucid I had a few weeks back. The mirror looked dirty. It kind of looked like I was looking at a reflection from a sheet of metal. I thought I looked normal at first, but I couldn't really see my face. I got closer to take a look, and saw my face was all distorted like in the movie The Ring. It was really creepy.
I then tried to enter the mirror, but whenever I tried to get closer, it was like as though the mirror kept getting further away. Then I tried to leave the bathroom, but the mirror extended itself outside the bathroom and then I woke up.
Last time i looked in a mirror my face was the same as IRL, but the mirror was so much more clear and brighter, as if the mirror revealed so much more in my dream then IRL, tho i was dressed weird, like a hobo my clothes were all shred and stuff.
The first and only time I looked into a mirror in a dream it was a reflection of me but for some reason I knew it was rather another person mimicking me completely. :(
I love coming across mirrors in dreams!
My reflection usually looks a bit different than in reality, although nothing dramatic. But I always go through them and each time I've come out somewhere different, like green foggy outer space or kind of fractured, glittery world. I think because there's generally nothing on the other side of them in reality my subconscious has no idea what to do when I go through them so it just goes crazy.
It also feels cool (kind of gooey) for me when I try to pass through them, although one time I got stuck. :(
Good topic. The variance in experiences is interesting.
I rarely come across mirrors in my dreams, but the times that I did have been non-lucid and I usually see a reflection of me looking the way I did in middle-school (chubby, glasses, bad hair; not the way I look today).
Once I looked into a mirror and saw a music video playing on it, as if it was a t.v. instead of a mirror--except the video was only on one small area of the mirror, the rest was normal. From that point, the dream changed so that I was I was "inside" the video, watching it play out in front of me.
...that reminds me, I should put that one in my DJ. Later on in that dream Morgan Freeman tried to shoot me and Sean Connery was fashioning a gun so I could fight back. :P
I've heard that many people dream of their teeth falling out, and I guess my dream was similar to that.
I woke up and sleepily walked over to the bathroom. I turned the light on and looked in the mirror. Opening my mouth, i could see that my teeth were discolored and rotting. This caused ALOT of shock to me, and forced me into a real awakening.
So...all in all, not pleasant.
Haunted MirrorI'm working in a customer's house, about to start the job, inspecting what there is to be done. The woman who owns the house is showing me around. After I've seen everything, I'm ready to bring the equipment in, but the woman warns me we might not be able to work because the place is haunted.

Her two kids, a boy and a girl of about 5 and 6, begin to tell me stories about a haunted mirror that appears in their house. They seem terrified, and the woman seems quite sure it will interfere with our work. I calmly reassure them that everything will be fine, I just know it. I speak with a calm confidence, and manage to calm and reassure the kids, but the woman still isn't convinced, but she'll let us try to work.
I say to the guy working with me that we will probably be doing a lot of this in the future. I'm referring to calming people down by manipulating their attention with my dream control techniques.
The front door is wide open so we can bring in our equipment, and as I walk towards it, a frame winks into existence on the wall. I look at it and it winks back out of existence, only to reappear again, this time framing a silver mirror.
The moment the mirror appears, I'm pulled to the ground by what feels like intense gravity, immobilizing me. I begin to hyperventilate uncontrollably for no apparent reason. The kids panic and scream to their mother that it's back.
I'm still pinned to the ground, terrified. I look at the mirror and see that it doesn't reflect anything. It's surface is an immaculate silver with no reflections whatsoever. Even though I can't move, I desperately want to get out of there. I think if I can manage to make it across the threshold of the front door, I'll be safe.
When I look to where the open door was, I'm horrified to see it's gone. In it's place is a window. I follow the length of the wall with my eyes past another window, and finally see the door. One of the kids is trying to open it, but it won't budge. It won't even vibrate! Outside the door looking through the glass are two more kids who have horrified looks on their faces.
I'm totally panicking, sucking in huge breaths of air, yet I can barely breath. I either wake up or wake myself up.
I woke up still gasping for breath, hyperventilating. I was so drenched with sweat, I thought I might have peed the bed. And I was still scared. Almost didn't get out of bed to take notes on that dream I was so scared. And when I went back to bed, I kept glancing at the empty wall at the foot of my bed to make sure there was no mirror there.
Last night I encountered a small mirror while lucid. I looked in it, and like the time before, it looked foggy and my face was distorted. It ended up making the dream unstable and I woke up.
Today I encountered the mirror closet in my brothers room.
I looked exactly how I went to bed.
I usually have longer hair when I look into mirrors in my dreams.
Mirrors have always represented a threat to me in dreams.. my earliest memory of this would have been when i was around 5 years old. We had a large dressing table at the other end of the room and attatched to this was a fairly big mirror (atleast a meter squared.) i had several really frightening non lucid dreams in which i was being sucked or pulled into the mirror.. the only thing i could do to stop it was to hold tightly onto the edge of the bed. I would often wake with my toes and fists clenched.. eventuall my father removed the mirror and it all stopped... mirrors are always evil dangerous things in my dreams though... strange
I was looking at it and saw my friend but he was not in the room with me but inside the mirror! I climbed through and it was another world. It was extra blurry though and I wanted out fast.
This is in my Dream Journal as well.
I was having a non-lucid dream where I was staring in a mirror and saw that my chest and back was burnt and charred. For some strange reason this didn't bother me, and I just peeled off the burnt flesh like you would peel skin off after sunburn. It wasn't painful or even weird at the time, but now that I think on it, I'm mad I didn't become lucid. I miss the most obvious signs!
I hate mirrors in LD's. They are truly terrifying. I HATE THEM. I need to think: mirror. bam. nightmare deluxe. Ive seen in a mirror twice.
First time i saw myself, behind me was a little girl with black hair, staring right into my eyes, i turned around but no one was there. I woke up, drenched in sweat.
Second time, i was afraid of mirrors, so i tried to not think about it, but then it gets impossible to not think about mirrors, so there was mirrors hanging everywhere. I tried to run from the mirrors, but they were everywhere. Then, accidentally i saw into one mirror, and this monster face screamed so loudly in the mirror that my head started to rip into half.. Its was hella scary! The monster was some zombie clown type of thing, pale grey face with lots of sharp teeth.
So... I dont really like mirrors.
I don't really have a problem with mirrors, atleast not in lucid dreams.
One time in a non lucid dream I was taking my contacts out but then saw in the mirror I had taken my whole eye out, so i looked at the case and there was my eye floating in it with green and yellow stuff it was really gross. Then I looked at the mirror again and my eye was back but I had pure black pupils...very wierd, freaked me out.
However, in LDs, I always see the best version of myself and its never scary or distorted. Two nights ago I was in a LD and saw a mirror and I wanted to change my eye color and I did, to a very light blue (it rubbed off on my face, but I cleaned it up) lol that was weird too.
hmmm why do i seem to have an eye infatuation in dreams....dream sign???
Recently I've been using mirrors (at least the one in my bathroom) to teleport during LDs. It feels like I'm going through thick water and then I'm somewhere new, and it is usually where I want to be.
Wow, sounds cool and terrifying at the same time :P
You just reminded me of the movie the ring, lol, hopefully that little girl didn't look like samara(sp?) because that would be terrifying. Did you ever find out why mirrors and nightmares are linked together in your dreams? Maybe it was something that happened in RL which causes this association :)
I've never looked into a mirror in my dreams, however, I barely remember my dreams, so, its very possible that I did but just don't remember it :P
