Would love to try this, but I don't think I've got the level of focus and dream control needed to do this. At times I get so distracted by the littlest thing in dreams that I bet I would just forget and blink..:(
Only once have I ever blinked in a lucid dream. I noticed myself blinking in the dream and I found it very annoying. I then tried to keep my eyes open, but they started to burn like in real life. I then closed my eyes hard. I didn't try to open them though and just reformed the dream around me. I didn't blink after that.
Hm I need to try that... always blink normally in lucids, after all I tend to blink a lot in WL, so that must be why lol
Technically speaking in a dream you do not posess any phsyical body and thus any experience you have of blinking is a mere illusion created by the brain.
i dont notice my blinks in real life really unless i do them. so i have never seen "dream blinks"
lol of course its a given, I suppose everyone is referring to it as "dream body" but I can be wrong <.<
I'm not sure if i agree with the logic here, this would be like saying that since your mind creates you running in a dream, you are always laying down in a dream regardless of whether you experience the dream sensation of standing and running. I think you can blink in a dream and you momentarily cant see what's around you, just like in real life. Since your mind is making up the blink, it could also make up the loss of vision for a split second.
Ive kept my eyes open and woke up with them open. Crazy cool ;D
Ive also opened one of my real eyes while i was dreaming, and i saw real life and dream at the same time. I confirmed this by keeping it open as i woke up, then i got up and RC'd.
wow..........
seeing half dream and half waking life
that must be weird O.O
This thing always woke me up from lucid dreams. I couldn't keep my eyes open in the dream. I had to blink. I knew I could accomplish it but I guess I brought some natural things into my dream like the neccesity to blink.
Never had a problem with blinking personally. I know not to close my eyes, during frightening experiences etc., as it doesn't really work. However, covering my eyes does so. I clench my eyes shut for about three seconds to intentionally exit a dream, though. :P
Tried it before. My vision just faded anyway, and I woke up.
That would not make sense, seeing as how running, and laying down are two entirely different things. You are right however in that blinking in a dream may temporarily cause vision to fade, and then reappear.
What I was saying is that the dream world is constant. It does not change unless you perceive it to change. If you think you need to blink or are expecting to blink then you will blink. I do not disagree with what you are saying since that is one scenario that may occur when you experience the effects of thinking you are blinking.
Therefore if you were to go through the duration of the dream, and have the belief that you will not blink, do not need to blink, etc. etc. Then in essence you will not blink and the dream will not produce the effects of blinking.
Dreamers have to remember that in a dream, they can control what happens. I've closed my eyes in a dream for extended periods of time, sometimes to teleport and sometimes just following the dream storyline. If you just don't think about it, chances are blinking will just be projected by your brain and you won't notice (since in real life you hardly notice each and every blink). If you still have trouble staying in the dream when you close your eyes, I suggest you always be touching something or experiencing some sensation. If you just stand some empty place and close your eyes, you might just wake up; if you pick up something in the dream and close your eyes but still concentrate on holding whatever object, you're more likely to be tied to the dream.
