      Very strange first lucid

I've had many lucid dreams in the past, but none were voluntarily induced. I've been trying to wild for a few months now, never had any success. Usually i would lay still for over an hour, counting up to 800. No SP. No sounds, vibrations nothing.

Last night i decided to go to bed at 6:00 pm. I was very tired from the long day. I lay down and attempted to WILD. I lay still for maybe an hour, no lucid, no SP, nothing. I rolled over and went to sleep.

I wake up and its 11:30pm. Slept for a few hours. I decided to eat since i was pretty hungry, made myself a nice meal, and ate it while browsing through dream views. Fortunately/Unfortunately i stumbled upon the NighStalker thread and read through most of it. I was fascinated by the idea of being able to walk between other peoples dreams.

After i finished reading, it was about 12:30am and i decided to sleep till morning. Was not attempting a WILD. I found it impossible to fall asleep. I rolled around in bed for maybe 2 hours. Thinking about random events in my life.

Suddenly my entire body starts shaking like there's some motor inside, I'm feeling very strong vibrations.. My eyesight dissipates and everything is black. Now I'm in front of nothing. Everything is black, but i know that I'm awake. I try to imagine that I'm in a scenario or a location, but no go.

Suddenly, i imagine a paintbrush in front of me. I see it. I pick red and draw a red square on the blackness in front of me. Then i draw a green square inside the red one. I find this interesting, and continue drawing squares inside squares until i have sort of a spiral. Then it hits me.

I suddenly take a step forward and I'm in a room. I realize I'm dreaming and look around, everything is very real. The giant wall in front of me has the square spiral i was drawing earlier on it. I feel excited, my dream is solid and there's no need for spinning or rubbing my hands together. I end up flying around, flying through walls (very easy), and just exploring. I end up going outside, and i attempt to fly to the moon.

Suddenly, i feel strange while flying up, as if something is coming for me. I decide to continue going up, but I'm not getting any closer. I wake up, I'm in my room, everything is dark. I try to move by I'm in SP. I can't break it. My door opens and something walks in. A hooded figure that i identified as a daemon walks up to my bedside. I want to get up and punch it in the face, but I'm in SP and cant move. It comes down and whispers something into my ear, i don't remember what but i think it was asking me something. I'm pretty freaked at this point, but i remember that everything that occurs during SP is a hallucination, so i don't care about the demon too much.

^^This turns out to be a fake awakening. The demon was part of my dream, not a hallucination of SP.

Suddenly everything shakes again, and I'm in another lucid which i cannot remember at this point. Wake up again. More demons by my bedside. More shaking. More dreams.

Eventually i wake up in reality, and realize that all of the above was just a dream. I never hallucinated a demon by my bed. It's about 2:30 am now. And i fall asleep till morning.

      Lessons learned?
      1) Demon=Dreamsign. Don't freak. It's either a hallucination or part of my dream already. As most people say that their hallucinations are not imagery, only sounds and vibrations, i doubt that any figure will be part of my hallucination. So it must have been part of my dream.

      2) Always do a reality check. In this case i had maybe 2~3 false awakenings. Which i should have caught.

      3) Don't get too excited. Always spin a little and rub hands together. Just to make sure dream stays intact.

It still bothers me that i did a WILD without any intention. I could not do it while purposely laying still. Only when i decided to give up was i able to enter my dream. How come i cant enter SP?

      WOw that so cool!

I'm amazed that you never felt vibrations or anything after trying for months and then this one time BAM! and how realistic it was for your first WILD.

I find the part about how you couldn't fall asleep interesting. Was it just normal not falling asleep or what? seems like 2 hours is a long time.

I think it is possible that you could have been in SP with the demon characters maybe... A few times it has been quite hard for me to tell which it was.

I know for a fact that the demon was part of my false awakening and not a hallucination, based on lighting and certain things in the room that i can recall.

I couldn't fall sleep because i went to be at 6:00 earlier. Anyone who has ever gone to bed around that time knows that you will wake up at around 11:00 or 12:00 and not be able to sleep for the rest of the night. I just decided to roll around in bed.

It still pisses me off that i cannot enter SP myself. SP has nothing to do with REM cycles, so i should be able to just lay down at any moment and enter SP after 20 minutes? How come i cant?

Sleep paralysis normally occurs during Rem if I am not mistaken. The whole point of it is to keep your body stationary while in dreams.

I think from biological standpoint people are not suppose to experience it in the conscious state so just laying still for an hour or two won't do it. It only 'activates' when you are unconscious under normal circumstances and thus you should never witness it and most people never do in the conscious state. Some people though are more prone to it while conscious than others, thus if you do a search you can find people that get it 3-4 times a night involuntarily.

The times where I have got SP without trying have been during car trips early morning etc... if you want to get it, try sleeping sitting up, on the couch, weird positions / with the light on, and at different hours, and you will probably succeed.

wow, longer post than I intended I have a lot of work to do, and Tbh I really don't know that much about it.

EDIT: I would like to point out about your comment above, your perceptions can be distorted during SP (lighting hallucinations etc., I find it odd that you would be paralyzed in a dream.

I don't see anything wrong with that. That's pretty much how I get all my WILDs. Although, I 'give up' much sooner. =)

I think the reason for that has something to do with the fact that you were waiting for something to happen. I can't find the thread I'm referencing. My Search-Fu here is pretty weak. . .

Anyways, IMO, you really don't want to experience full blown SP every time you WILD. I've had one episode, and it was one of the most terrifying 20 seconds of my life. The period after the initial shock, when I calmed down a bit, was pretty neat, but not at all worth the first 20 seconds. . .

Just had another amazing wild experience tonight:

Went to bed at 9:00. Tried to wild, failed. Woke up at 12:30. Cooked dinner, ate, browsed DV for a bit. Went to bed at 2:30. Felt very relaxed, i could relax my entire body to feel like i was flying or falling.

Lay still for a while, tried to wild. Gave up. Decided to go to bed. I was rolling around in bed for a while when i suddenly notice a weird feeling allover my body. Not sure if this was SP because i didn't feel paralyzed at all, but i just went with it. I began to hear really strange noises, like a cartoon playing on TV. Decided it was just a hallucination.

Began to picture a ceiling fan spinning, focused on it, and before i knew it i was in a room staring at a ceiling fan. Rubbed my hands and spun around. I was focused.

Controlling the dream was harder than i realized. I could no longer fly through walls, or teleport to different locations. I even asked a DC to take me somewhere. No go. Changing a scene for me was also extremely difficult. But flying around was just as easy as always. I just used the jump-in-air-and-hope-you-fly method.

The only problem is that i kept getting False Awakenings. When i tried something in my dream, it began to get hazy, and i would wake up in bed. Only to do a reality check, realize i was dreaming, and start over from the same point again and again and again. I must have had 7~8 of them.

Still a great experience, learned a lot. Can't wait to go again.
