      NREM Lucid?

      Hello everyone,
I had this odd experience a couple of days back when I was trying to sleep earlier than usual. I was in bed and wasn't able to sleep but I was thinking and must have been lost in my thoughts, if there is such a thing. Anyways, on to the experience.
I think I was eventually lost in my thoughts or something like that, because, the next thing I remember is being in some scene which was slight greyish. The best explanation is those black and white movies with the fuzziness, but, it was mostly greyish. In the scene, there were some metal doors in the distance and I see something like a women move infront of them towards the left wall. I think I was conscious during this, because, I knew where I was, who that person is, etc..... If anyone here has played the pc game FEAR(I gave the demo a try), then they would understand this next part. I knew that the thing moving infront of those doors was Alma from the game and I knew that once she turned to the left and saw me, she'll come racing towards me. To me, it sounds like I was thinking straight during this. Anyways, guess what happened? She looked, raced towards me and I jerked out of the thought dream due to the shock, but, I wasn't sweating or anything like that. I wasn't really terrified either. So, my first question is, is this considered an LD? I didn't remark to myself that I am dreaming, but, it seemed that I was conscious during it, otherwise, I wouldn't have known what might occur next and since dreams work on expectation, then it seems this was the case. Second question, I wasn't able to sleep right away, but, instead was lost in my thoughts as I recall, could this mean that I had this during an NREM period, because, if it couldn't have been REM, since, I wasn't tired enough to have a REM rebound and I think I was in bed for less than the 1.5h before the first REM period starts?

No one has anything to say? I was thinking this subject would at least draw some people in due to the NREM vs. REM dream debate

hmm, but, when that happened, were you tired for those nights? Reason is, because, it could have been a REM rebound. In my case, I was in bed and couldn't get to sleep, since, I wasn't exactly tired, so, I couldn't have jumped into a REM period from the start of my sleep

I think i know what you mean i have somthing like this happen all the time. For me when im trying to visualize scene's after not seeing anything i just give up and then let my mind wander. Then random scene's or object's appear's they just come from out of nowhere.Example of the stuff i seen lol dont ask but i seen a woman diving then swimming in a pool as if i was watching some show. Then i see things like some beach scene with some guy close up to the camera.Just odd stuff but my favorite's are the one's with motion im just lying there and all of a sudden im seeing tree's whizing by as if im actually driving.I get the one's with motion all the time and yes the quality of what your seeing isnt that great. But it's still cool and speaking of nrem vs rem all this happens in like under 20 minute's.It just depends on how relaxed i am and where my state of mind is.I think from trying to visualize get me to that state of mind quicker. So yup your not alone with this if you mean having mini dream without even beeing close to sleep.

Nice, one question, whenever you have these mini dreams, are you tired when you go to bed? The reason I ask is the same as what I asked JollyRoger above, because, it quite possible that it's a REM rebound, but, from what I've read from your post, it seems you've experienced the same thing I did. Another word to describe the quality is grainy, not sure why I didn't think of that before The question still remains though, was I lucid during this mini dream of mine because I could think in it?

Am i tired when i see thing's ? Nope not tired and no where near sleep it just happen's when going to bed or when i try to take a nap.I dont think it has anything to do with rem. For me it's like going into a differnt state of mind and just letting your mind drift. But that's a good question were you lucid.I ask myself the same thing cause when i get those one's where im moving i can move left or right. But yet at the same time i know im lying in bed. It's like you think if you had a dream body it's impossibe to be in a dream because your just to aware of where you really are.So it feel's like your watching some show that you can control..But for me i always screw up when i see these thing's i go back to trying to visualize. And i just conk out and fall asleep. I think their weak HI's and the closer you are to sleep the clearer they become.Because when im close to sleep latley ive been seeing my pc desktop scene clear as day or either the design's on the curtain's i have. But when it happen my awareness it's barely there so im trying the fast grab method i seen on this site

I was on lunch break back in highschool and just passed out! Also let it be known that I had a full nights sleep before hand

I don't think you can say the difference of NREM from REM unless you have a device that records your REM sleep, or a webcam, whichever one works lol
