unlocking lost information from your memory

for a few years, ive been trying something. I had the idea of while im in a lucid dream, thinking about something i had forgotten, like the name of a song or anything else, in my case it was where i put my cellphone, then finding the lost information in my dream. It took me a while because i could not remember to think about my cell phone during my dream. But I thought about it last night during a lucid dream, AND I REMEBERED WHERE IT WAS. It seems easy but i found it difficult. Please try this and tell me about it.

Acctually this is one of my goals to controll when i can LD at will. To unlock the secrets and hidden information of the subconscioussness ;) Im looking forward to that

We had a member here a while ago (UMJ) that used a similar mechanism. When he was lucid, he would walk around a library and try to find the book that contained the memory he wanted to access. I don't remember if he actually tried to read the book, or if just finding it was enough, but it did work for him.

When you are lucid, you have so much access to your subconcious, it is truly amazing.

Well one of my research experiments involves summoning a blank piece of paper, and summoning words onto it (on a subject)
And then reading it, waking up, and recording it.

Not too far away from this idea...

I am wondering though; if you repressed something because it was really traumatic, is it possible to get it back through an LD? Like I have a HUGE fear of men with Facial hair and I think that is because something happened and I don't remember so is it possible I could get that back through an LD?

well, when i remembered to find my cell phone in my dream, i said out loud, wheres my cell phone. I didnt even have to concentrate, it just dawned on me that it was inbetween couch cusions where i had thrown it the other day. But this was a very recent thing so im not sure it would be like this for the person above me.

Who is to say that the memory you have is actually real? I remember watching a programme about people who used to be abused as children, they forgot about it and one day said "I remember being abused" they actually spoke to the camera as if they were abused, they believed it! but 50% of them didnt actually encounter the abuse, their subconsious mind make it up. The mind is a powerful tool. Information hidden in the subconsious mind cannot be controlled by events that happen in this reality. Who is to say our past is not fabricated? We remember events in the past but cannot be 100% sure they happend.

You can use self hypnosis to retrieve memories of traumatic events... HOWEVER... its one of the really seriously dangerous areas of lucid dreaming / self hypnosis

Do not unlock memories by yourself, if you aren't entirely ready to deal with it - this can be seriously nasty shit

I remember a cartoon when i was young called "The Pagemaster-1994" with Macaulay Culkin, im sure (if my memory is up to scratch) that movie was about the information you mentioned!

its interesting that we can access thoughts and memories this way, even events we didnt directly take part in (its like a collective subconsious of imformation embeded in our heads). Walking into a library has a really symbolic nature, the size and quality of information, i guess our brains are our own personal library's, at least we dont get charged for overdue books.

speaking of cartoons involving dreams i thought spongebob had a pretty interesting episode on it oddly enough, his snail garey's dream involved a library also where he was looking up information
